No just pumping
I've had loads of midwives, breast feeding co-ordinators, doctors, attempting to get him to latch on and noone can manage it :rotfl: I think the majority of the medical profession here have seen my boobs!
I can just about manage every 3/4 hours, as obviously with OH being back at uni/work I'm on my own sometimes, and with trying to look after LO, look after myself and express it's not easy. Managed to get 2 and a half ounce out just there, and I'll be due to express about 1ish again, which I will get up and do.
Aw, you poor thing. Well done you for pumping. It's so much work and I honestly don't think I could have done it. 2 weeks is still early days though, whether you're still pumping or not in weeks to come, you will find your own routine and things will get easier.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

Don't know if it's me or him, but it's just not happening. I'm hoping to express until 6/8 weeks, and then re-assess how it's all going. He's on half comfort milk at the moment because of his wind and it really does seem to be helping, whereas the breast milk seems to bind him up, but until I'm told otherwise I will continue giving him it. I know I've done all I can in my heart to give him breast milk, and I've given him the best possible start I could manage, it doesn't stop me feeling insanely guilty that I can't manage to do something which should be natural. The frontier is never somewhere else. You have certainly given him a great start. I totally understand the guilty feeling and nothing I will say will change that. It's crazy how something seemingly natural is so difficult. I'm yet to personally meet someone that has found it easy/natural.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
awww Gilly, hugs :grouphug:
You are doing a fantastic job to express as often as you are. I honestly don't know that I could have done it.
I combination fed my LO from day one, she had both b00bs and then a 3oz bottle (I had a breast reduction tho, so my supply was never that plentiful). However, I found my milk made her constipated (to the point where she bled trying to poo). Every instinct told me that my milk was best for her, but as soon as she went all on formula, her 'movements' became so much easier. Deciding to go all formula was horrible and how guilty I felt almost made me just carry on, but I realised that I was actually only wanting to carry on to make myself feel better.
I guess what I'm trying to say is don't beat yourself up about expressing / wind/ breast milk / formula. Do what you feel is best, dont feel guilty, just take each feed as it comes.
If you LO is only taking small and often, as he is on some formula, could you try giving him a little cooled boiled water instead and see how that pans out?:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0 -
Welcome smiley face x
Another combo feeder over here! Not through design but as LO dropped too much in first wk had no choice but to sup with formula. Have packed in expressing for now cos of back pain doing bf/ff because exp is too much sitting as well plus I find it a pain as I don't produce much
At least with comb feeding whilst my supply lasts it gives a but of flexibility
Gilly I would have gone insane being rigidly stuck with expressing I just did what I could.
Do not feel guilty u have persisted when others would have given up quicker just do whats best for u and LO
I have to say I think having the carp births def did not help with us doing bf, it really messed my supply up supplementing just as milk was finally coming in late so now just have reduced supply but will carry on for now but know I would not if LO did not latch.0 -
Well final nail in the coffin for expressing. LO would not settle and was up grizzly from 11-5, so with me having to express twice in that time OH had him a lot. Bearing in mind we were both awake, both shattered, when he finally went down we both slepy through the alarm and OH has now missed an important test at uni which is worth 20% of his end grade for that module!
not good.

Oh no Gilly
I would think that the uni have an appeal / extenuating circumstances procedure...hopefully you OH will be able to sit the exam and not loose the 20%:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0 -
Not good at all. He already has put in extenuating circumstances for another exam due to Aaron too! Nightmare. He's so happy this morning too, last night was terrible and all because of trapped wind. He gets infacol, colief and winded in every position imaginable and we still cant get the wind out and noone seems to be able to help usThe frontier is never somewhere else. Gilly that's complete pants, hope something can be done for you oh big hugs x I felt terrible waking hubby to feed him bottle couple if times this wk as back too painful to sit and either bf or bottle he had to conduct interviews the next day but missing exam is far more pants
Re food those sachets that make instant pasta in a cup are my saviour!
My avent 3 in 1 electric amazon black Friday bargain has bust:eek:

Aww poor little man.
Maybe try a little cooled boiled water, if he is only taking 1oz of milk at a time, maybe he's thirsty or just after the comfort?
I used to swaddle my LO when she wouldnt settle, with a dummy just dipped in Gripe water, meant the dummy stayed in her mouth and the little bit of gripe water helped her little tummy.:heart2: Mummy to one gorgeous little girl :heart2:0
