It is. He cant do night feeds anymore its just not possible. So I will have to give up expressing :(

I went to Bootd yesterday, I had a £20 gift voucher and some mailshot coupons and got 2 x 56 packs of size 1 pampers, 1 carton of aptamil comfort milk, a 6 pack of pampers wipes, a tommee tippee flask thing for making up fresh feeds fast (must say its fab) infacol, pack of 2 soothers and some bits for me and OH and only paid £15 and got all my points.

    Aww poor little man.

Maybe try a little cooled boiled water, if he is only taking 1oz of milk at a time, maybe he's thirsty or just after the comfort?

I used to swaddle my LO when she wouldnt settle, with a dummy just dipped in Gripe water, meant the dummy stayed in her mouth and the little bit of gripe water helped her little tummy.

I think his tummy is so swollen with wind that he is taking an oz and feeling full even though he's not if that makes sense? Cooled boiled water combined with the comfort milk just gives him dia woo woo :rotfl:

Midwife is due back today and she suspected reflux so will speak to her about it.

Will try and persevere with the dr brown bottles too. x

  • Hi I sometimes lurk on here. I used to read the preg thread over 2 years ago when I had my first. No time 2nd time round I have a 3 week old.

Gilly, I just want to let you know my experience. My son just got diagnosed with a posterior tongue tie. Have you had your little one checked for tongue tie? If not look into it and it may be worth trying to contact a private lactation consultant and double check they can diagnose all tongue tie types. Posterior tongue tie is not classic heart shaped tongue. It is very difficult to spot and a lot of "professionals" will not diagnose a tongue tie. My son can poke his tongue out past his gums and lips so many people would probably say he doesn't have a tie. It can still make feeding very difficult though because he does not have full range of movement of his tongue in his mouth. I have a milk oversupply so he is still being fed, but it is painful for me and he gets lots of wind so I am thinking about eating it clipped. I am having it looked at again next week.

Seeing as up to 10% of the population have some sort of tie it is very common.

Sorry you're struggling Gilly. Hugs to you, and you must do what is best for your little family. Hope OH can sort his exam out.

Just had a delivery of the correct size wraps for the reusable nappies, so perhaps I will brave that this afternoon!

Had a fairly quiet morning, but it would appear the peace is about to be broken as there are 'revving' noises coming from the carrycot - the ones she makes before kicking off proper! Also had a good night with her (well, if you count the night as starting at 1am...)

Can I just ask, are colief and infacol really different and should I be using both for colic? Don't think she has much, but she is really grizzly and restless through the evenings and figured it was worth trying to help settle her if there is a problem.

Oh God we've had enough wee wee incidents any time we've tried huggies. Pampers all the way for us. The comfort milk means his poos are already really soft so I think the water just makes it worse :rotfl:

No idea Crabapple. From what Ive been told infacol is good for burpy wind and colief is good for bottom wind. We have bad cases of both here.
They can both take up to a week to get into the system though.
