(((hugs))) Ro, your back pain sounds horrible! I really hope it gets better soon! There's nothing worse than a bad back, especially with a LO to look after.

Thanks for the tip on that iPhone app Crabapple, I'm definitely going to give that a go! I had Amelia asleep in a sling this morning and was running the hoover round and she didn't even stir once, so there's definitely something to it...

I got my nappies this morning so am just going to put them through a wash then will try them out!

Gilly - i think you underestimate the need for a dummy before you have kids! Poppy wouldn't take one but i am not against it anymore.

Ro - no harm in putting him on the boob all the time. I did it to Poppy and she is a very content baby!

We've used a dummy a few times now... Normally when she's been on the boob for an hour (just comfort suckling after a while) and I need a break! She's not keen though and normally spits it out quite quickly... Putting her on the boob is normally the easiest and quickest way to settle her...

Gilly, have you thought about using washable breast pads? I bought some bamboo ones off eBay the other day, they arrived this morning. I'm flying through the disposable ones, so these seemed a better investment!

  • welcome along thegreenroom hope everything is going well. x

re dummys samuel has one, my middle one had one but my eldest didnt, each to thier own, if it gives my baby comfort and stops them screaming and sending out stress hormones to thier little bodies then why wouldnt i use one for a while. i also introduce muslins as a comfort so its easy to get the dummies off them when i want yet they still have the muslin as a comfort when they are upset. x

that is just my opinion though ans is right for our family, im not saying any other way is wrong . x

If I had anything else to wash I think I'd have a break down :rotfl:

Thats a good idea, he has a muslin in his crib that was down my top :rotfl: do you just put the muslin in with them?

  • yes just basically when he is awake he has his muslin with him or when i lay him i down to sleep or in his buggy i give it to him to hold, it doesnt take long for them to get attached to something. had to convince hubby to stop givinh him his bunny toy before he gets attached, as i have loads of muslins but am not paying out for a certain mamas and papas bunny if he loses it lol
