Oh dear good news and bad. Finally had a good midwife in, she observed how windy LO appears to be and how he was taking a feed, and she thinks he does have reflux :( pleased in a way as I knew how much pain my little boy was in and noone was taking me seriously. Bad news she told me how long it takes to get a diagnosis! :( urgh.

Glad youhave help though Gilly. I don't know anything about reflux, someone else might.

It was lovely to meet him- he's gorgeous and so tiny compared to Rose!

    Hi Everyone,

Not quite ready to join you yet but will be there soon!

Is anyone using washable nappies? I think I recall that 4nnabella was planning to and I was hoping you might have some comments on them.

We have gone with BumGenius ones and I have just done the first double wash of them to get them ready :)

We are the only couple in our antenatal class that is planning on using them and the teacher said in her experience they do get used but only about 50/50 with disposables.

If I can get above 50% I will be happy as this is 50% less spend on disposables and 50% less nappies being dumped in landfill!

    Thanks
    Icey xx

Well typical, after Midwife went away, he's taken his 2 subsequent feeds fine, and went straight down without sleeping on mummy or daddy, so I've no idea what to think now, maybe it is just bad wind? I've made him a rice sock thing and been told to use that on his tummy when he's suffering, so will give that a go. He's been down for ages now, I actually managed to get a shower and wash my hair! Ordered me and OH a Valentines Dominos (how romantic) and it's taken an hour to arrive  knowing our luck LO will wake up as soon as we get it :(

Icey, can't help I'm afraid :( we took the easy route.

Gilly, we seem to have wind that comes and goes, I think it is what unsettles him as sometimes you'll get a squeal and a fart, or he'll fart and wake himself up! :D But when he's content, he'll sleep for ages quite happily. Also when he's windy, he'll start and stop feeding for ages before settling to it properly. I tried some gripe water, but both nights we gave it, he threw up loads. Mostly when he's sick, it's just a little bit, these were gallons. And as he was lying down, he threw up into his own face, poor thing!

I've got reusables, but I'm working through a stash of disposables first. I decided to break myself in gently, but the disposables are lasting longer than I thought. The last few I swapped, I got size 3, so will probably try the washables once I've used all the size 2s, and keep the size 3s for when I'm out etc. I've got 5 Totsbots, 10 Ebay cheapies, and some strange shaped things my other half wore when he was a baby. :D

Oh, when he's restless, sometimes we can keep him asleep by putting a hand on his tummy. I assumed it was a 'someone's still there' thing, but maybe it is the warmth/light pressure that helps?

Lol, I left the lanky teen doing the hand on the tummy/shhhhh thing earlier when I was starving, came back and baby was asleep, hurray!

thanks Aimless, makes me feel a bit better, because he gets proper cranky with the wind, and can cry for hours, but I don't think it's colic, as he is easily settled.

Well after all that Dominos arrived and it was the wrong order :( phoned them up and said about it, they hung up first time, and second time said we couldn't have a refund and they wouldn't come and collect the pizzas. Not sure what to do tbh because it's a franchise, so who the hell do we complain to?

Icey, we use cloth nappies :-) we used disposables till his cord fell off and now we use cloth during the day and a disposable at night. We use lolipop nappies. It does create more washing but you get used to it very quickly. Let me know how you get on with the bumgenius'

I've been using a mix of bumgenius, flips and little lambs since my LO was 10 days old - these have worked very well for me and it really hasn't been any bother washing them. It doesn't seem right but especially with bumgenius be very careful with the amount of powder you use, less works much better. I have also found that bio powder is much better as well, it will not irritate baby's skin so long as it is well rinsed (which you should do anyway to prevent detergent buildup and nasty whiffs).

Okay, little one woke up, was fed, changed and winded in half an hour, and is now back down  After all my moaning. Is this the same boy?!?
