I went to Starbucks today, but I chickened out of breastfeeding and went and bought the pre done bottle pack. Maybe new time I will feel a bit braver. Anyone got any advice on how to manage it?
I fed Amelia in the main post office in town the other day. She was screaming her head off which made me feel so bad and luckily it was late afternoon so relatively quiet. I just tucked myself away in a quiet corner and got on with it. I was sat at one of the desks they use for financial advice appointments and a member of staff came over to see if I was waiting for something, as I had my back to the room so she couldn't see what I was doing, but she was fine with it when she realised. She even offered me the use of the private room they have for appointments. I was fine where I was though. She went away but then came back five minutes later and tried to sell me life insurance :rotfl::j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0 -
I managed to get rid of the last 4 of my starter pack nappies today, hurray! If anyone has nappies to swap, Mothercare will not do them without a receipt, Tesco, Boots and Morrisons have done for me.
It it unreasonable of me to get annoyed when the mother in law keeps making comments like 'oh, you'll be giving him something extra to keep him full soon'? She fed the other half on milk with cereal in to keep him quiet (way back in the 60s) and just doesn't understand breastfeeding. It makes me feel like a) they think what I'm doing isn't good enough, and b) I could never let them babysit for fear of what they might decide to feed him! Not only did he put on 1lb 1 ounce between day 15 and day 30 (now 10lb 10!) but after feeding all evening yesterday, he then slept for 6 hours. Not exactly starving!
On the minor annoyance front, the other half complaining about being tired when I've only had 2 hours sleep winds me up.And also, after me wandering round all weekend with a baby under my arm, trying to eat dinner one handed, etc, the in laws complaining they've hardly held the baby. Just bleeding ask me, like I'd turn down the chance to go for a wee in peace! :wall:

I loved my MIL aimless, until I had Aaron. If I didnt know better I'd think she was plotting to snatch him. Also everythong we do is wrong. Seriously annoying. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Hi, Could I join in and be added to the list?
I've actively took myself off all distractions and the net for the last few weeks to concentrate on Jessica and getting a routine, which has come to nothing as she demand feeds mostly every 2hrs the odd occasion she will do 3hrs, Jess is up to 7lbs now which is good as she was quite tiny at birth.
Hope everyone doing okay, If anyone would rather I didn't use this thread for whatever reason pls say, I honestly wouldn't be offended, I just need the advice and tips but at the same time don't want any bad feeling with anyone for whatever reason x
Edit: Just gonna post birth story, though it is very boring xxx
need dob to add you to the list hun.
of course you can join in why wouldnt we want you. xhope your doing ok. xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
I am quite lucky as my Mum bf me and sis till we were 1 so was very supportive and don't think OH's mum did but his sister did her second and and now her third so they are very supportive too. Some people have no idea what they are talking about!0

Re: Buying "emergency" formula as back up. I was discussing with my HV, who had asked if i had used any formula, and i confessed buying (but not using) my 3 ready made up cartons, and she said it was sensible and that her experience, people who did that, were actually less likely to use it, than people who didnt, and went rushing out to the supermarket in the wee hours, as the people with the stash at home, felt less desperate, as they knew they had the back up available if they needed it..
Seems counter intuitive, but i guess i see her point!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

i havn't yet! only been into tesco baby changing room.
going out for lunch on thurs so will see how i get on!
i brought some formula and got tempted to use it last night as DD was unsettled and kept having 3/5min feeds.
After not sleeping in the day we had a good nights sleep.
Why do people ring just when u got your baby off to sleep!!0 -
LO gave a couple of loud screams this morning, when she was sleeping, which don't sound like her. Great big sobs. She's been a little off today, I think she has a bad tummy... She's a little clingy too.0

Carmilla...it also depends on the baby. My DD was good at embarrassing me and would come off the boob and push herself back exposing me to the world. Also having a strong let down doesn't help as I'd get milk everywhere and usually at home I'd be tucking a muslin into my bra to save my bra from getting soaked...not so easy in public.
I also thought i would never feed in public, but I did a few times and you do gain confidence. I soon didn't care about lifting my top up and accidentally flashed someone in a car park once (I didn't realise they were in the car!)
I found most places have rooms, Mothercare, John Lewis (the best I found), Boots, Debenhams, shopping centers, so there's rarely the need if you don't want to BF in public.Baby Giz born 6/2/110
