You can take them swimming from 2 months here, when they get their first jabs. I'm hoping to take Daniel from next week, if there are spaces in the class. As I'm still a wobbly post pregnancy size 18 I'm just going to have to close a little part of my brain to how I must look. Hoping it will motivate me to start toning up and eating well again.
Muslin squares are a must as you can use them for swaddling baby too. I would get a changing mat as you will be using it for 2 or 3 years. Haven't used a changing table or the baby bath. Just use the sink then the big bath. Both mine only wore vests and sleep suits for first 3 months. Would only buy a few size 1 nappies. If planning to breast feed, I would buy nipple shields in advance. A few cheap fleece baby blankets are handy for out and about as they wash and dry quickly and can be used as changing mats and I use them instead of Moses basket sheets.First Baby born January 2007
Second Baby born September 2011 :j0 -
My DS is 4 1/2 months. He was the youngest in the group but a friend started hers at about 9 weeks I think.
I second muslins as a must. I have tons and am always washing them. They're great for lining over the sheet in the Moses to stop sheets needing a wash at every puke!0 -
Morning all. Jacob slept 10.30-7 then went straight back down to sleep after his feed :j! Am sure it won't last so am enjoying it while I can. Problem is DS2 keeps getting up during the night
so we're still losing sleep.
emmylou - sounds like you may have a big one in there cooking!
Nice to see you Wonder Womble!
kazzybabes - welcome and what a weight! i thought my LO was big! Well done you on having him naturally. I don't blame you weaning him early. Mine were all early weaners at about 18 -19 weeks. Anything from 17 weeks is considered ok isn't it. I used to give them a little milk first to take away the hunger then start with the solids. That way they are not so frantic. They can finish bottle/breast feed after the solid food then. I didn't bother with the baby rice last time and went straight to the packet cereals you make up with milk. They are much more yummy than horrible rice lol!!
Congrats and welcome to all the other mummies x
Thank you! I tried him with some banana cereal by heinz today, he ate a couple of spoonfuls then kept hitting my hand away and turning his head lol! I then made some baby rice and he ate the lot! Im wondering if this is because the cereal was made with water and not milk? Can I use milk instead of water like it says on the box? Thank you!0 -
Hi Mummies
Just wanted some advice please on a couple of things. I have started buying more now I am 23+6 and am already thinking about what I need to get. Is there anything you forgot that you think you could do with, anything you bought that was un-necessary and anything you cant be without? We dont have a huge budget so I dont want to end up buying a load of stuff we wont use (though saying that we ahve bought quite a bit already!)
Oh, and is it best to get maternity towels or will normal sanitary towels surfice?
Thanks for your help, its really appreicated I know you must be very busy now
Laura
Hi Laura - I know they are huge and unsightly, but I found the maternity pads to be so much better than normal sanitary towels in the week after birth. It gets very sore down below and you need the cushioness of the big pads
Nappy bin - MIL got me one and I only used it for a week as it always used to stink. Even when I changed it daily. So that soon got relegated.
Baby bath support - I used this ever day for 6 months to bath my DD. It cost about £3 from Argos. I only have a small house and no room for a bulky bath and this did the job perfectly so I could bath DD with both hands
Cot top changer - Ive only ever changed nappies on this in my house. Its handy not to have to bend over, and 9.5 months on its still going strong! I know I should have stopped using it by now as DD is sitting up, so will put it away soon.0 -
Kaz - I would try it with milk. All baby rice and cereal I made up was with formula and now she has porridge with cows milk. What consistency are you mixing the rice/cereal to? I found the guidelines rubbish and when someone told me it should be the thickness of yoghurt, it was much better!
DD has 4 teeth now and she has started to grind them. The noise goes right through me!

Big fat nothing!!! Not even an offer to check for dilation, let alone of a sweep... BP, Wee and position all fine.
So, just gotta hang on for Friday unless these tummy pains develop. (TMI alert) Had a dribble of something (not wee) just after wee got home. Not sure if its just discharge or a little leak of waters. Didnt smell, seemed clear.Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Thanks for being handy on the end of the phone, and all the advice re breast-feeding. Nipple shields ordered. Swimming, had been going to ask, you've saved me that one as well! My dad had us out swimming at a few weeks old in a local park. And you looked fantastic last time I saw you, don't have any worries over your looks!
Weightwise, I was 10 and a half, went to 14 and a half, and I'm now just slightly above 11 and a half. But one of my sisters has struggle terribly with weight, and has hardly any stretch marks (two tiny ones). I have a stomach that has ..... interesting patterns, and on my thighs as well. So we both have opposite problems!
How much sleep is everyone getting? Rose is allowing us around 7 hours a night, which is quite good I think.0 -

Yes I would make it up with milk - either formula or breast whichever he's used to. And like Sammy_girl says make it to the consistency of yoghurt. I don't think they eat too much to begin with as it's more about getting used to having something of a stronger consistency than milk plus using a spoon. Good luck hun!Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0
