Wendz both of my sons were non sleepers day or night so my daughter came as a total shock.....I actually phoned the health visitor in a complete panic nearing hysteria because I was so not used to sleeping babies that to me it was something to worry about
I felt like a complete fool after the call ended0 -
Haha think i would be the same if i get a sleeper next time! Wouldn't know what to do with myself.0

Thanks Gilly and everyone for advice. Think I might try formula for hungrier babies before bedtime and see if she will sleep longer at night - I feel so guilty being woken by her sucking her hand while half asleep.
lo is having a bath or shower every other day and she sleeps in the day a lot too, they all so different.0 -
Gilly sounds like a good plan with the feeding
Lirin think at 3 this morning could have taken on a death by chocolate challenge. Love thorntons alpini chocolates.
Anyone know how toniq is doing ?0 -
I still bath DD every night. It's so ingrained in her bedtime routine that if I change it, I'm scared she won't go to bed lol. I use baby bubble bath but no lotions or anything on her skin, and her skin is fine - lovely and baby soft0

Re bathing mines a dirty boy lol but he is only bathed once a week and rest of time top and tailed as worried he will get dry skin lol0

Kira - hope you get better soon.
Munchkin has been awake for most of today and would not settle when put down in her basket, so I'm hoping that means some longer sleeps tonight. Usually she is unsettled in the mornings and sleeps the afternoons.
She was three weeks old on saturday, and today I have made my first trip out of the house just the two of us (no DH to boss around getting all her stuff organised!). Took me an hour and a half to get out, but I managed to walk up to the HV drop-in clinic (10 minutes walk I guess) and weigh her, then to GP to register her, then Tesco to get a few little bits of shopping.
Now shattered, but very proud of myself for doing it with her in tow. Would have been so easy a few months ago:rotfl:
Anyhow, birth weight was 6lb12 and she is up to 7lb14!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Well done carbapple
Kira hope you feel better soon.
Woo i made it to my dentist appointment on time and DD stayed alseep!:D
We getting on ok, but DD struggles to sleep in the day, we have to help her, which i don't mind but i just don't want it to become a habit. I have noticed shes gets cranky/tired in the mornings after a feed and then need to help her sleep, then will get tired again around 2/3 and again have to help her get off to sleep. If she doesn't have a sleep in the morning she will get really cranky and will not sleep in the afternoon and get herself overtired. On friday she would only sleep on me or OH.
Still got colic:(but we had a good evening last night and wasn't crying much and only started to really cry when she was hungry.0 -

Gilly --When LO was first born I seemed to mainly express and then feed through bottle due to sore nipples and lots of visitors. After a couple of weeks when things quitened down LO was then happy to take the breast and I didnt express much. Lo's are adaptable and I am a big believer in doing what is right for you and baby, and not doing what people think you should be doing.
At present I am combination feeding as my milk is not filling LO up enough - Lirin/Gilly - how do you mix the breast milk and formula please?
Lo having a nap now and I only had to get her changed twice this morning! her latest trick is to wait until I have put her vest on and done the poppers up and put her tights on and then vomits all over it so that we have to start again, all done while smiling at me.
Right off to find some cake yum, oh and change my top which also has vomit on!
I had tried one bottle breast, next bottle formula initially, but it left Rose a bit irritated, and she wasn't satisfied with it- the breastmilk seemed too light and she'd gorg on it, only to throw up when she tried the same with formula....
MW told me mixing both in one bottle would hopefully even the nutrients etc out. Breastmilk stored in fridge, then half a bottle made up with half a bottle formula. I boil the kettle full and add to the breastmilk, then add in formula powder, the full bottle just needs cooled a little then.
She also toldme doing it that way would lessen any effects of anything in breastmilk- if I'd had alcohol or hadn't felt well, or eaten anything they recommend to limit/avoid if you're a breastfeeder.
I was using ordinary formula during the day, and hungry at night, but she seems to settle easier overall if I use hungry all the time- she's a greedy little thing!
She seems absolutely fine, and the up side to half and half is I was told it was unneccessary to heat up breastmilk, that it would be around room temp when expressed. So I make up a bottle in the morning in advance, or a few if I'm going out, and rarely would heat them....
There'sso much conflicting advice, I think I'll just do whatever keeps Rose happy!
Plus- does anyone else who expressing notice LO fixing you with a vampire like hungry gaze as soon as you go near the breastpump?0 -
YES YES YES Lirin. i have Ellie on my lap when i express and she doesnt like it sucks her fist, smacks her lips and pretends she is starved until i stop expressing. It is quite funny really:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart
Proven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j
