All this talk of cake and chocolate is making me want some!
Gilly --When LO was first born I seemed to mainly express and then feed through bottle due to sore nipples and lots of visitors. After a couple of weeks when things quitened down LO was then happy to take the breast and I didnt express much. Lo's are adaptable and I am a big believer in doing what is right for you and baby, and not doing what people think you should be doing.
At present I am combination feeding as my milk is not filling LO up enough - Lirin/Gilly - how do you mix the breast milk and formula please?
Lo having a nap now and I only had to get her changed twice this morning! her latest trick is to wait until I have put her vest on and done the poppers up and put her tights on and then vomits all over it so that we have to start again, all done while smiling at me.
Right off to find some cake yum, oh and change my top which also has vomit on!0 -
Im not mixing breast milk and formula together, my midwife told me not to but I think Lirin just does half and half. I feed the breast milk first out of one.bottle and then the formula out of another. Its all a bit of a faff tbh. Im using aptamilThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

The reason a bottle of breast milk won't settle them as long is because it is easier to digest and therefore they get hungrier again quicker where as formula is harder to digest to they stay fuller for longer. Not saying that is a bad thing but is why breastfed babies feed more often.
I agree you need to do whatsright for you and baby, a happy mum makes a happy baby.0 -
Hi all, long time avid reader of the thread but never managed to post. Some may remember me from a couple of my other threads re problems breastfeeding.
My gorgeous little boy is currently 7 weeks old and arrived before xmas a whole 4 and a half weeks early. He was 4lbs 5 when born and is now nearly 9lbs so turning into a little chubber!!
Hope everyone is doing well, it is reassuring to read through everyone's posts and identify with some of the highs and lows.
Just wondering how everyone else's babies of a similiar age compare to mine at the mo in terms of feeding sleeping etc. My greedy boy is taking anything from 4 to 6ozs at every feed which are every 2-3 hours. During the night he goes 4-5 hours before waking for feeds. We don't seem to have any routine during the day at all, it revolves around when bubba wakes for a feed. He is awake a lot more than he uses to be but still sleeps - a lot!!! Is this normal?!? He's more awake in the mornings and evenings but afternoon he zonks out straight after a feed, i think i'd prefer it the other way round tbh :rotfl:
We also don't seem to have established any sort of bed time routine, i aim to have him upstairs by 9ish but this doesn't happen everyday...
Whilst making my mammoth confession....we also don't bath him every day....naughty mama!!!0 -
We are also caving in on the breastfeeding and offering a bottle before bed. Partly because i anm so sore and partly because she sleeps longer.
I will be trying to breastfeed the rest of the time:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

All seems normal alwaysalone, my bubba is a week old and taking between 3-5oz at every feed, mixtue of formula and expressed breast milk. He has a feed every 2-3 hours and if it's during the day I will usually wake him for his feeds as he's less cranky then.
R.e the bathing, he's had 4 in 9 days, midwife said top and tail every day and bath 2-3 times a weekThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Always alone I wouldnt worry at all about the sleeping...my little girl is almost 8 months now and still spends about 75% of the day aslleep!0

It is very normal for babies to sleep most the day at that age, mine on the otherhand was awake most the time from about a week old. I said to the hv when she was young and they said as long as she was happy then she was fine. They are all different.0

Can't remember about the feeds as my little one is 4 this year (pregnant with number 2 so best start remembering soon lol) but my midwife told me to only bath him once a week......it dries their skin out if you bath too much.
However when he was weaning I did bath every other day as he was filthy with evrything in his hair.0
