Hello all
Fingers crossed for you Nutella. I feel your pain, last night Aiden woke at 11:00 and 12:10 but did go back off with his dummy, he then woke up and did the screaming crying at 3:00 and then woke up for a chorus of hiyas at 5:30. And thats quite a good night for us recently. Luckily for me a colleague at work has a almost 2year old who is a bad sleeper, so we have lots of conversations about it in the mornings!
Sammie, what a pain about your ebay buyer! My OH has gone a bit mad selling stuff recently. He builds computers as a on the side thing, so he has sold a load of old parts and made quite a bit. It all helps though. Have you managed to contact the buyer?
We think we have decided to get Aiden one of those little trikes for his bday. I think you were getting Noah one too Sammie? OH also wants to get him a villa kit, plus a few little bits to open so it seems like its going to be a bit pricey. Oh, and some shoes if he is walking by then too. Might have to rethink some of that.
Hope you are okay Turtle, big hugs xxxx
Just come up to bed as I am shattered tonight xLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

You may get lucky Sunshine. We went to get the first walking shoes and Clarks had a sale, ended up getting a pair in his size for £8 reduced from £34
He is wandering around outside now quite the thing :j ooooh also he can feed himself with a spoon and fork now, including scooping the stuff up and stabbing it, v proudThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hiya thought it was worth a mention whilst your on cow and gate but I've just seen a thread somewhere else that says Aptimil and Cow and gate are exactly the same
Aptimil is recommed as the best forumla milk apparantly but this mother couldn't get the formula she needed in the shops so she rang them up and they said use cow and gate as its exactly the same saving her nearly £80 a year now as shes switched over as cow and gate are cheaper. The extra charge is 'advertising costs' apparently
Just incase anyone else was using it anyway :beer:People don't know what they want until you show them.0 -
hello all! sorry you are having a rough time turtle
well after little miss being really restless half an hour after each feed I decided to bite the bullet and try her on a bottle. She got fed at 8.30, she stayed awake happy for 2 hours then managed to put her down in her hated moses basket for bed without a feed without any screaming, she slept for an hour and just woke up for a feed at 11.45 so lasted 3.5 hours which is basically unheard of during "awake" hours.
Tomorrow's plan is to give her a bottle at bed time and see how she goes and possibly introduce on in the day as well or maybe just the day as thats when she seems less settled. I don't mind getting up for 2 night feeds. Its less for my benefit as I don't mind feeding her all the time but I had said if I felt she wasn't settling or seemed unhappy then I'd try it and she has been really restless all weekend and every time she has been wanting to be fed. It may have been a fluke but if we can make her happier then I'm happy too. (On a side note: still haven't cracked the MAM bottles so that they don't leak Gilly! The baby started off with 6 oz but ended up wearing at least 1 oz!!)
Hope all have sleepful nights0 -
not good. Is there maybe a video on youtube or something? I done a facebook video for someone once, but I don't know how I'd get it on here
Edit: I've been told there is a 'breaking in' period with formula so to speak and any results you see won't create a pattern until 7 days have passed (we've been through a lot of formulas so I was intrigued to find this out afterwards) so be sure to let us know how it goesThe frontier is never somewhere else. good thinking ill have a look! its just not screwing on properly to the base, I've forced down the white disc at the bottom so not sure why it won't screw in properly, its obviously something I'm doing as not all of them would be flawed in design!
Ooh, thanks for letting me know that about the formula. I'm just going to see how it goes and take each day as it comes but only 40 minutes after the end of her last feed she was absolutely howling for more food which just seems to me as though I can't provide enough even though everyone says that isn't possible! I don't know but it was time to try something different.
Incidentally, does anyone use the cow & gate ready mixed? If so, I want to buy the 1litre bottles but do they keep in the fridge if I only used ~200ml per day? Or would I be better getting the cartons which are already ~200ml? The bottles work out cheaper but I don't know that I can keep it open and it doesn't say on the bottle as far as I could see when I was in Tescos (unhelpfully!!).0 -
I think the ready made formula lasts for 48h open in the fridge, and a litre is close to 35oz, so you would need to use around 17.5oz a day, pretty much mostly formula feed. Cartons would work better for one or two feeds a day (200 ml =~ 6.75 oz), it should last you 1 or 2 feeds at this age.
I don't use the MAM bottles but when I first started with the bottles I kept trying to put the teat through the inside of the holding ring and puss it up to the outside, instead of squeezing them and pass them through the top outside towards the inside, as I was supposed to in order to avoid leaking. Also, my bottles (Dr.Brown's) would leak if I put hot water and cool it down, but would not leak if I put chilled water and I just warm it up slightly, there's a scientific explanation for that about steam, expanding conducts and whatnot but I cannot remember the particulars. YouTube is a great idea, there must be some video for MAM bottles.
If you have problems with wind, stir the formula instead of shaking the bottle. It reduces the amount of bubbles in the milk
I hope everything sorts out itself soon turtle *hugs*Quit smoking *1st January 2010*

Morning Sunshine (and everyone else!) - yay for a good night! Ours was as per usual, we moved her into our bed at 11.30 when she wouldn't stop crying no matter what we did, she fell asleep again straight away and woke up at 4 for some standing up and roly-polying. She's now discovered the light above our bed, although OH quickly unplugged before she figured out how to switch it on... I escaped from the mayhem at 4.30 for an extra hour's sleep in the spare room. On my way to work now, have a good day all x0
