Finger food wise - we're having issues.
Banana keeps escaping from her hands and she's NOT impressed... her current tactic is to balance it on her bib on her chest and pull the bib to her gob and eat it that way. I suppose the technique works.

Banana just doesn't go down well here, he just doesn't like the texture at all.
Melon, mango and pineapple on the other hand get demolished. I'm not a big banana fan though so I don't blame himannoying though as they're one of the easiest foods to carry around with you. Although in saying that I found a mouldy tangerine in the changing bag yesterday, those little mini ones you get at Xmas too  officially a minger.

Used to work at a school which had (of all the stupid ideas in the world) lockers for primary kids (I remain convinced that Shergar is hiding in one of them there's that much crap in them... although he might be in a Findus lasagna now...) End of the year the kids used to have to clear their lockers out under the supervision of the class TA...
One child had a locker FULL of decomposing oranges and satsumas mum had given him for his breaktime snack all year - they were stuck to all the sides of the locker, mould everywhere - it was utterly utterly rancid!
Boots doing buy one get one half price on all drinking/sippy cups if anyone needs btw - been out looking for one she'll take milk from to try to at least get the daytime bottle gone into a cup form (mainly so she doesn't mug the new baby for hers!)Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Awes how cute dizzi.
It has been lovely and sunny here today been out with the pram for a nice long walk. Finley has just fed so I am off to soak in the bath, going to go crazy and have use a bath bomb I got for my birthday.0 -
Happy birthday Charlie!
Katie, I made the quinoa bites today - they're sooooo yummy! Although LO wasn't convinced - she ate them, but not with great enthusiasm. I'd make them again though tbh just for me
Re. milk - my plan is to switch to cow's milk (we're still on stage 1 milk here, I wasn't keen on follow-on) when she's 1. I'm not too worried about the iron - I think we can manage that through her food and possibly a vitamin supplement if need be. Still trying to figure out how to drop another bottle though - we're on 3 now, and should probably drop to 2 soon by getting rid of the one she has in the afternoon... Thanks for asking Sunshine, it's really helpful to know what everyone else is planning/doing too0 -
We're on follow on (she does fine on it - I can get clubcard points - I'll buy the advertising con-trick) but will be moving to moo juice at 12 months.
Considering dropping down her mid-afternoon bottle here too - she's the sort who'll never turn down milk if it's offered but I think she really doesn't need it now she's really rocking the solids and I'd like it swapped to a mid afternoon snack at some point - might try reducing it and see how she goes.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
I think Cow and Gate had to stop playing that ad saying a baby would have to drink gallons of cows milk to get enough iron compared to a drop of their stuff.
Yeah, they did. It implied that a baby would be deficient in iron if it weren't on formula but that's misleading because it all depends on how iron-rich their diet from solids is.
Yes, formula contains far more iron than cows' milk (and breastmilk probably) but a baby over the age of 6 months is rarely getting their nutrition from milk alone (unless they're Freddie who doesn't want to eat it if it doesn't come out of mum's tit).

I feel like its my fault he hasn't been able to have finger foods before, as soon as he choked I would give in and feed him pur!e
we are getting there now though.
X
It's nerve-racking though isn't it? Freddie gags, coughs and splutters every time he swallows something! It doesn't help that my mum sits there shrieking 'He's choking! He's choking! Quick! SLAP HIM!'. Grrr."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Apparently 'follow-on' milk is a bit of a gimmick. They're absolutely fine on infant formula and it's just an excuse to 'expand the market' (and possibly charge more).
Agreed. Thanks for raising this Sunshine. It's really useful to know other people's experiences."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0
