I have been doing a bit of both. His eating isn't great atm as there are bulges all over the shop in his mouth so I give the follow on when he isn't eating good and normal milk when his diet it ok
He only has 1 bottle a day anyway so I dunno why I bother :rotfl:The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

LolAiden has 2, but only drinks one and a half really. I might do a bit of both too. My HV said the only diff is a higher iron content so that makes sense to do follow on if he osnt eating v.well.

If he takes a beaker at all during the day you could do that with normal milk and any bottles with follow on or something?
Aaron doesn't have milk during the day really only water as he won't take it! I wish he would take more, means I'm packing out all his meals with loads of milk and cheese and giving yogurts til they're coming outta his earsThe frontier is never somewhere else. He just has a morning bottle and night time, water in the day. I suppose cows milk in the sippy would be ok though I would just have to chuck it after a while. I think nursery only give water though until he gets to the 2YO room.
Is Aaron ok with dairy now? XLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea

Seems to be, no reactions at all really so I think we're sorted (hopefully)
Could give it with meals and then just put it back in the fridge? I'm going to try that as he does get dry when eating I think, and usually has water. We eat the same things and I get thirsty so I guess he does too.
Anyway off to bed, so I can get up early and finish my housework tomorrow morning. Night Night xxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

Managed a bit if a lie in today then got some house work done. OH parents came around thus afternoon. They never bothered with us until they found out I was pregnant and now Finley us here cannot have a weekend without seeing him. I am finding it hard to swallow but want him to have a good relationship with them so I am going along with it. Went to tesco and did my food shop.
Finley is fast asleep usually has a big feed this time of night but is not interested. I am off to bed, he is sure to decide he wants food shortly.0 -

It's a good question. My plan was to booby-feed until 1 then straight onto cows' milk. This way I could avoid having to make up bottles. However, my dentist (whose son is a consultant paediatrician) recommends leaving them on follow-on milk for as long as you can (don't know what age it goes up to - 2/3?) because cows' milk doesn't have the iron they need.
I guess it depends on what his diet's like in terms of solids. I'm still debating what to do..."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Hello all, hope everyone's ok, been a few days since I was last on.
G is still coughing and spluttering everywhere, but temp is much better. Doc said its a virus so should pass on its own and to give calpol and nurofen as and when. He's full of beans after missing all the play groups last week though, was tempted to go to soft play yesterday but I'd be annoyed if someone took a baby as congested as him, so made do with a walk instead.
How is Aiden sleeping now Sunshine? I think we're going to be back to square one with George after him being poorly as I've been feeding him in the night again.
Re cows milk, my plan is the same as yours Fluff - bf til 1 then on to cows milk. I didn't know about the iron thing, but tbh after the strop he goes on if I offer stage one formula I'm not forking out ££ for follow on only for him to do the same. I think Cow and Gate had to stop playing that ad saying a baby would have to drink gallons of cows milk to get enough iron compared to a drop of their stuff.Newborn thread member

Hi ladies,
I will be switching to cows milk when Noah turns 1, he is on SMA follow on at the moment and, like Aiden, has 2 bottles a day. I spoke to the health visitor about Noah not eating finger foods still and she said I have to persist with it as he probably knows I will give in and give him pur!e if he doesn't eat much, naughty baby!so we are on day 3 now and he is doing really well, he sits in his highchair for about 20 mins then realises I won't feed him so he feeds himself!! He had a jacket potato with grated cheese and ate every bit for lunch!! I feel like its my fault he hasn't been able to have finger foods before, as soon as he choked I would give in and feed him pur!e
we are getting there now though.
