It may seem weird but could it be something you're eating that is irritating her tummy? My LO is intolerant to milk protein, and all the time he was having it, he had bad reflux and very bad wind, he would be writhing in pain sometimes because of the tummy spasms. x

  • alamaya, re: benefits, I am pretty sure the 35 hours thing is for Carer's Allowance, DLA I think is more about additional needs, not time. If I were you I would ask on the Benefits and Tax Credits forum on here, they should be nice to you even though they can be a funny bunch!

    Hello all! :)

I'm on my way home from Heathrow - had a nice time in Kenya, but never knew it'd be possible to miss someone as much as I've missed my little girl... Can't wait to see her!

Hope everyone is well - big hugs to Jannine, Alamaya, Dizzi and anyone else who needs one :)

On the issue of eating, I've taken drastic action and signed up to Diet Chef for 2 months. After three days of stuffing myself with buffet food (including cake at every meal) I feel like a big lump - enough is enough. My first food hamper is being delivered on Tuesday and I'm actually really excited about it! I won't have to cook and it's no more expensive than my normal food shop :) Now all I have to do is stick to it and not add any 'extras'...

My plan for today is sleeping, cleaning (because I have a fairly good idea of what awaits me at home) and lots and lots of cuddles :)

Have a good day all x

Big hugs xx hope you manage to get some support with the feeding xx sorry don't know about tube feeding but when we had to feed Scott every so long at night when building him up we set all the feed times on my phone as alarms so could sleep in between the very short period x

Alaymaya - if it's any consolation - we went through 7 feeding tube refits in one day and it's flipping horrible to have to go through. I also got marked down (again) as a pain in the backside patient for insisting they stuck the wretched thing down properly to try to reduce it coming back out because they weren't going to bother.

Running on minimal sleep - kept Erin in with us as she was sooooo snotty and teethed up that she was going to get no sleep in her cot - she's had a good sleep... I haven't and I've now got the horrid cold myself... yesterday she fully cracked rolling and proceeded to dive off the sofa so I felt awful about that as well (but she was unscathed) - today she appears to be working on dismantling her highchair while still sat on it. She's just sooooo relentlessly screamy and grumpy at the moment which is getting very wearing - considering she's normally such a happy smiley creature - having her growling at little old ladies in Tescos is a not very nice change.

Welcome back Nutella! Hope you're having some cuddles now :)

Alamaya, hugs afraid I have no advice as I have no experience in that sort of thing but I would definitely be trying to get some support. Your health visiting team should be able to help and point in the direction of some more specialised support.

Bit of a hectic day for us - toy library this morning which wore him out so much he's fast asleep still, and we have to leave to get to the soft play in 15 minutes. And he's not had dinner. Think next week I'll have to rearrange things a bit.

  • Hi all :)

Sorry I've not read back yet - just wanted to add that there's another confirmed case of silent reflux here. Been given 4 boxes of Infant Gaviscon, she does need 2 doses per feed though, because of her weight (little pudding ;))

Got back late from docs, so she was due a feed. The Gaviscon made an amazing difference!! She didn't start grunting or writhing half way through the feed like she normally does, just calmly drank the whole bottle, burped afterwards, then was all smiles. Amazing!

Unfortunately she did the most massive poonami in the waiting room at the surgery. It stank, and even worse, when the doctor asked to examine her abdomen, the poo had gone all the way up her back!! Had to throw the vest and sleepsuit away, everything got plastered in it, LMAO! That'll teach the doctors for being 25 mins late seeing us, hehe.

She has an umbilical hernia which I'm keeping an eye on just incase, but should go of its own accord. This doc was the first healthcare professional to mention it!

    :)

Aventurine - we had a really bad umbilical hernia, caused me loads of stress (my worst fear was a hospital readmission - we did NOT have a fun time in there). The key thing apparently is if you can push and it goes back in (gawd ours used to make the most horrible almost-squelchy noise when you did) so in that respect the bigger ones are better... think Erin's started to go by about 6 months and she's got a nice little inny now at 10 months tomorrow (8 adjusted).

Used to look like some kind of amputee elephant's trunk - and no one ever mentioned it to ME either - until I queried it myself at baby clinic and got made to feel like utter crap for not innately knowing what it was and that it needed monitoring!
