I would try a warm shower of bath to get a bit of milk out Gilly. hugs

Thanks everyone for the advice. I have those pad things that you can freeze/fridge/microwave so I will microwave them now. Due to express again at 1 so hopefully itl work. Did try and get Aaron to latch on this morning and he wasnt interested, probably because he's been getting bottles :( will persevere though.

Also I've never been so in love with my OH he has been truly amazing all through labour and the birth and even more now we're home. He can't do enough for us.

On another note, we have tried LO with a bottle a few times, so dh could give her expressed milk, but she refuses to use it. We mentioned it to the HV, who said dont bother with bottles, try using a Doidy cup, which is technically for older babies/toddlers moving from bottle, but she recommends them instead as often babies do much better with it than bottles. We've ordered one, and going to try it out when it arrives. Will let you all know how we get on.
We had the same problem. Couldn't get her drinking out of a cup either. That said after the initial hardness of BF I never regretted not getting her to drink expressed milk. BF is easier in the long run. Dad's can do other things :)

Doidy cup is a good investment though, we've been using ours with DD since 6 months, it seems to spill less.

I wonder if anyone can help. Ive been expressing every 3 hours (including twice in the middle of the night) for a day and a half now. Obviously before my milk came in it was only collustrum I was getting but it was an ok amount. Now since last night my boobs have got harder (like rocks) but on my last 2 pumps I'm not getting a lot out at all. Are my boobs too full or is this just my supply? :( Im confused and upset.
Don't panic, some people can't get any milk out expressing, so it's no indication of supply. Are you Breastfeeding as well? If not then you need to be careful not to get a blocked duct which could then turn to mastitis. Everyone here has already given you good advice (warm bath, hot flannel, light massage to stimulate the flow, also try having baby near you). Use Savoy cabbage leaves to ease the pain, put in frigde, !!!!! them with a fork first (don't ask me why) and pop in your bra...it's bliss. Otherwise get yourself some of those gel pads, which you can either warm/or cool depending on your needs. But for MSE purposes I'd stick with the cabbage. I got the gel pads and didn't use them much in the end. The worst feeling was when my milk came in and then when I got mastitis or a blocked duct.

When massaging the boob, the advice I was given was to use 2 fingers flat and work outside in (direction of milk flow) and just lightly drag the fingers toward the nipple. Not sure if that makes any sense. But it's important not to do it too hard I think.

Glad to hear someone is getting on with their other half so many of us have had trouble with other half recently nice to hear a relationship going well! :o

Keep trying with the breastfeeding he will find it hard to latch on when the breasts are very full. sometimes i need to express a bit before Ellie will latch on so might be worth a try

Ah, just seen this. Keep trying with Aaron, I personally wouldn't wait to express at a certain time, if you feel ready to express sooner do it...

Why don't you spend a few hours of skin to skin time with aaron this afternoon, that's really the best thing for getting breastfeeding and milk supply going. The more skin to skin the better :)

Kira - have you tried raising the mattress in the crib by putting a towel underthe head end , helps with congetsion a bit.

Poppy would only have a bottle in first few weeks. She will drink water out her sippy cup now but not milk.

Gilly-does not sound easy with the family, sometimes you just need your own space! Does sound like your husband is being fab though.

Wendz, thanks. Yup. the pram and crib both have their mattress raised. It seems to have helped in the pram, not so much in the crib. Maybe i'll look at raising it more.

Bless her, she is sleeping like an angel today, has gone down in the pram every time i've fed her today. Must be exhausted from last night.

Oh, meant to ask. Anyone elses LO suffered from baby acne? How long did it last?
CJ seems to have developed it the last 4 days, little raised red spots with white centres on her cheeks, chin and forehead. Been following advice and bathing her face gently with cool boiled water and patting dry with cotton wool. It looks a bit better now, less red, but there are lots of little bumps under the skin. It doesnt seem to bother her, but i feel bad for her when i look at it cos it looks like it should be sore!
