Really interesting to read what other LOs are eating - it's so difficult to know what's 'right'! I find portion size particularly difficult - OH thinks I'm giving LO too large portions, but she always eats everything...

By the way, baby event starting at Tesco today - until 11th Feb. Half price Johnson's and Pampers wipes, 1/3 off Pampers nappies, half price Johnson's toiletries, half price Ella's first tastes pouches, Plum stage 3 meals, some Organix stuff and Tommee Tippee bottles, cutlery, cups, breast pump, steriliser etc. And more :)

Also, I've been meaning to mention the free Price Alert service that www.mysupermarket.co.uk has launched - it's fab! You need to register with them, but it's quick and easy. You then tell them which items you want to track the price of - I've got Pampers Baby-Dry size 4 on my list, but you can track anything sold in the main supermarkets plus Boots and Superdrug. Whenever there's an offer or a price drop somewhere, they send you an e-mail to let you know. Definitely worth signing up for if you have access to a number of supermarkets and buy specific products on a regular basis :)

Bamama, when you express, how much do you get? Expressing is less efficient than a baby but you could maybe try expressing the other boob when he's got only one and freeze it? Just so you get an indication? My LO is4 weeks tomorrow but at 2-3 weeks she was having 1 oz - 2 oz per feed, 10 feeds a day, 14-17oz total in the day.

I was going to say that she had not done a poo in the last 35h, but she has just done one so massive that she leaked all the nappy and stained both vest and sleepsuit. I was wondering if I should go to nappies number 2, according to weight my LO still is in number one, but I'm not sure if I.should change.

I bought gripe water to help with gut movement and pain. Can you give them both infacol and gripe water? I can't seen anything on their leaflets about.interactions or warnings. I know gripe water can only be used when they are a month old, I assume this is ok now because she'll be 4 weeks tomorrow. I asked the GP about the comfort milk but she told me not to use it until they see her because they want to evaluate whether is reflux or colic or else. However, the next available appointment is next Wednesday!! I might call tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment on the day.

Missbumbury I can't BF so I offer the.bottle and she cries whilst trying to it. :(

I finally got a red book! They sent.one.over the post. I'm crossed I didn't have it earlier, there's a page about BF and how to know if it's going well or not and all the symptoms for "problems" are the ones I had. If I had had the book before, I'd have.spotted the problem and ask for help before they forced me to go with.formula!!

About slings / wraps. I really want one. The type.of Victoria slinglady is good for me, a stretchy / woven wrap that is not expensive. However, I'm getting no reply from Victoria Slinglady and the woven/stretchy mix wraps are sold out. Somebody mentioned another website before but I cannot remember who. Is there any other site where I could buy a wrap carrier at under £40??

Evening all, busy day here, my new years resolution is to be more organised and tidy, so I've been keeping on top of all my chores, so keeps me busy all day boo hoo :( also meal planning, just had an Asda delivery there, never been impressed with them before, but v impressed today, and they were much cheaper than the others. Going to butchers tomorrow to get my meat and it should do me between 2-3 weeks with fresh top ups for milk/fruit and veg. Hoping to start saving some money :j Made up a table and got all my meals in it for the next 14 days and planning on hanging it in the kitchen so I have no excuses for not being organised :)

Also my low energy bulbs arrived today, so put them all in there, hopefully will help the electric bill slightly as we have an eye watering 10 bulbs in the living room in ceiling lights alone

Well going to get some dinner and catch up on tv :) Have a nice night xx

  • Bamama I got upset when I could only express 1oz the other day I too thought my boobs felt soft, no idea why they are sometimes soft and sometimes hard, well I know it's about the supply but I don't know why it varies do much. I sometimes think I've got nothing left but if I squeeze them a bit it's clear there is still milk there and when she pulls off she had milk all over her face!

Gilly, after reading your post from yesterday I just wanted to say I'm so glad you posted that. I felt exactly the same in the early days after having Theo. I would just sit and look at him and cry and think to myself "what on earth have we done?". I just couldn't see how I was going to cope but couldn't see a way out either. Then I felt awful for thinking like that and that made it even worse. It was horrible, just horrible but as you have said, you do get past that and things are a million times better now. Thank you so much for your post though as it helps to know I'm not the only one who struggled. I felt so guilty for so long :-(

Aw Elelyn, that was why I posted it, I hope it's reached out to anyone who does feel that way, it's normal. It's not something to be ashamed about. While you're pregnant or trying for a baby you're constantly being bombarded with these images of lovely babies sleeping, all rosy faced peaceful beings.

The reality is like nothing you can ever imagine, it was hell on earth for me. I don't cope well on little sleep at the best of times  But one day you just wake up and things seem slightly easier, and then the next it gets better and before you know it, you don't dread things quite as much. They too get older and more interactive which I think helps immensely. I remember I didn't want him to get bigger, but boy was I wrong, he is so much more fun now, than he was when he was really small. The more responsive they get helps too, so you can there happy/excited. Newborns tend to have 2 modes, screamy or sleepy. Tough luck if you get one who's sleepy mode is broken. :o

Dewi always has milk on his face and there's usually some left in the shield.

When I was expressing in hospital I was getting about 80-100ml a boob every 3-4 hours.

That sounds like a lot to me  especially for expressing, if the pump can get that out, baby could get more. That's almost 6oz every 3-4 hours. Pretty good going.

They kept telling me I could feed the whole of SCBU!

Maybe this is why he doesn't feed very often? And I suppose they will be emptier around the cluster feeding hours too.
