OH hasn't read anything so far as I'm aware. I don't think he's thought that I may have to express when Dewi feeds.
I'm really beginning to wonder if I'm still making enough milk. He seems to always have both boobs and isn't nodding off.0 -
If he's feeding often Bamama you will be making enough milk. Growth spurts are tricky.

Is hummus salty? I never really thought about it. I love it though, how do you make it? Suppose I should just google it....
Bamama honey, if baby is gaining weight, then you're making enough. If you think you aren't making enough because baby is always feeding.....you are making enough, that's just newborns for you! However if baby isn't gaining weight well and you are worried about supply issues, there's lots you can do.
You can express for 5-10 mins after each feed - extra stimulation to make more milk in the future.
Eat oats (good excuse to eat hobnobs and flapjacks, yum yum!), drink drinks made of barley malt (things like "supermalt" in the world foods section of supermarket), keep hydrated - I think I drank 3-5 litres a day in the early days.
You can take fenugreek, a supplement that helps with supply.
Are you getting any real life support? Midwife, health visitor, breastfeeding cafe? It sounds daunting but real life support is sooooo useful, and I wish I had been able to go to groups etc early on.0 -
I've been left to it turtle. I'm just fretting over everything now! Ignore me lol x0

Salt in houmous hadn't even occurred to me! Bad mummy, I've already given him salted butter on his toast this morning! We did try to make our own ages ago but it never turned out as nice as the stuff from the shop so we stuck to buying it. Less washing up!
George has managed to sleep for a fraction of what he normally would this afternoon so is completely hyped up, one second giggling like a total maniac and the next absolutely howling. Keeping him up for tea and a quick bath but early to bed for this little monkey.
Bamama could you call your hv for some support?Newborn thread member

Maybe I'm too careful about the salt thing - she even has her own little pack of no-salt butter in the fridge and a pile of no-salt vegetable stock cubes... I do give her shop-bought bread though (after obsessively reading the labels on every single loaf in Sainsbury's to find the one lowest in salt... Surprisingly, it's their own brand)0

I have low salt stock cubes too (0.04g of sodium per 100ml made up stock!) ...haven't used them yet but will do soon.
He ate loads today, toast, banana, baby biscotti and for dinner he's had butternut squash, cod, and loads of mashed potato (with cheese in). Most he's ever eaten in one day....wonder if it's the less night feeds kicking in?? We shall see tonight what happens!!
Bamama don't worry, you will soon learn how this thread works, there's us regulars who probably should spend less time on here, there's long time lurkers who crop up from time to time with advice on specific topics or with milestone news, and there's the panicky new mums who are realising how hard it actually is and have a million questions! I've been in your shoes (we all have!) - don't worry, you'll soon be the one posting advice to a nervous new mummy

Oh, and I do give my LO cheese too. I don't make my own cheese - I'm not that obsessed!
Turtle, fingers crossed for sleep tonight!0 -
Hi Ladies!!!
Good to read you're all doing well. I give Charlie a diary free marg, so does have some salt in, but is relatively low.
Today he's had:
Breakfast - Cow and Gate Wheat Flakes, yoghurt and toast with philadelphia.
Lunch - Ella's Kitchen Cottage Pie, fruit pot and apple and orange fingers.
Snack - Cheese Sandwich with some more apple and orange
Dinner - Porridge and yoghurt.
I do similar to nursery, which is biggest meal is lunch.
Bamama - you doing great hun. Those first few weeks at home finding yourselves are always scarey. I promise you, it does get better. You learn to understand each other more, you become more confident, you get a steady routine going. Big hugs to you!! xDFD February 2012

Thanks ladies XD I could ring the HV but I think I'd get better answers here
I asked about the "not enough milk" because occasionally, during this cluster feeding, Dewi seems to be sucking me dry and my boobs are pretty soft all day. They haven't even been that firm in the mornings ><
On the plus side... I have a swinging chair for Dewi and it hasn't made him cry!0
