Bamama How are you getting on now? The first day is the most daunting so yay for getting through it, hope you manage to get some sleep tonight.

Moneypenny, I seem to remember my little darling doing an hour and a half before, and frequently does nearly an hour at almost 1!

Hi all thanks for such wonderful support and advice.

I am fairly thick skinned when it comes to the midwife as about 20% of what she says us utter twaddle. She keeps going on about how she said the baby would be big all along - I asked her loads about the size as she wa regularly above 90th centile & she always said she felt average about 7lb - only 2.5lb out then! That's fair enough but she keeps telling everyone she predicted it would be big. I tend to ignore her! My friend is an obstetrician so I just asked her Important stuff!

Today's average time between feeds has been 2hours and lasting 20 mins on average. Some longer 40 min feeds and some 5 minutes then fast asleep unable to be tempted back. It's been about every three hours through the day & I've kept hydrated so that's helped a lot thanks for the drinks bottle tip kira. I feel like the milk has been plentiful again today thankfully. Thanks again for your help & advice all it's so reassuring.!

We went or a very short !walk with the pram today just round the corner, it's enough for me after the section. Dr came out to see how I was too he is very nice. I felt really nauseous all day but think its the iron tablets so I've been ale to reduce them to two instead of three. Hoping that helps my poor tummy! Will try & read Back at some point, hope everyone is ok xx!

Edit: knewi had another question. Anyone else have a baby who would sleep anywhere including Moses basket except at night? As soon as we put her down at night in it she gets so restless, not like that in the day, nor in her bouncer or play mat or sleep on us, just the Moses basket at night. So tempted to let her sleep in the bouncer! (don't worry I wouldn't actually do that!)!

My midwife was the same, when I said to her, see, I said he was going to be a whopper, she said, oh, we said he'd be big. Oh yeah, I told you that was what the scan said, and you did precisely nothing about it!

Aimless - I don't get it, they say here they don't scan for big babies only small ones but they induce early if mum has gestational diabetes as they don't want baby to be too big... But don't do anything if they think it's big. Makes no sense! No wonder little miss had to come out of the sun roof!

It makes no sense at all! Mine was a placenta scan, so 'well he's going to be a big one' was nothing more than a cheery sidenote. He did make it out the regular way, but I did have my doubts more than once when I was trying to get him out.

We did ok Gilly. How long is too long for a newborn to sleep?

I've read that you should not let your newborn go over 4h without a feed bamama. A few pages back there was a link to download the NHS book "Birth to Five ", quite big and full of "official advice", I'll see if I can find it, I'm on phone so those basic tasks always seem more complicated!!'
