Yay! Freddie's got a tooth! Not that I noticed - we went visiting today and my friend pointed it out. He's probably had it for weeks. Bad mummy! :o

We were talking about highchairs before Christmas. I didn't go for the Tripp Trapp in the end - I found this incredibly similar one in John Lewis for half the price. Freddie loves it! Here he is trialling it before purchase. Hope you're all well and enjoying 2013 x.

I can't imagine what that's like dizzi! I did some awful things as a teenager but really started to grow up and have never been so close to my family.

I hope you do have a good support system. From what I've read, you are incredibly strong and have gone through way more than anyone deserves. You should have s lot of pride in yourself!

Dizzi, not because they are family, it means they are good or mean well.

Oh I moved 350 miles away at one point, ended up where I am now pretty much by shoving a pin in a map and hitting up flat rentals to escape! She lies, plays siblings off constantly against each other (doesn't realise we talk to each other and figure out the truth) and is a general nightmare! She helps with the baby though and I was kind of relying on her coming down to watch her when I go in to have this one - but to be honest, if it's going to mean she hasn't got the control over me - I'll go in without a birth partner and leave hubby at home childminding if needs be - and considering how much I'm dreading the hospital that's a pretty big deal for me... I'm sick of fighting and being the disappointment (well all her kids are to her) to be honest - the fact she couldn't even do me the courtesy of telling me about the whooping cough thing, and will side along with the relative in question (who's done a million and one crap things over the year with no consequence or questionning or judgement) says it all really.

Thanks Gilly. I Thought expressed would have been a good measure of how much babs got from me but reading around it seems not. We had skin to skin for a few hours and i ate and the boobs seemed to reinflate so hopefully it was a blip. I can hear her swallowing the milk again now which didn't happen earlier.

She has been feeding every two hours today. The 10pm feed lasted an hour and at 12 she was after more - been going 45 mins on the other side. Midwife said that wasn't acceptable and my milk must be poor quality so that made me feel good! not sure why she has suddenly taken to hour long feeds is it a growth spurt at 2 weeks?!

Started watching OBEM but freaked out as first woman had an EMCS due to fetal distress & seeing the way the nurses responded in a panic made me realise that's prob how they reacted about me I just wasn't aware of it. Soon turned it over as it was starting to turn positive memories into worries for the future!!

Bamama - great news hope u have a brilliant night with your boy! Wish he could teach little miss how to sleep 5 hours!! :)!

Hi Moneypenny, So sorry i couldnt get on before. First day back at work after xmas, and i couldnt get on at work.
A few things- WOW! Your midwife sounds like a prize idiot! Long feeds do NOT mean you have poor quality milk. CJ frequently fed for 45minutes at a time when she was wee- admittedly some of it was due to her undiagnosed tongue tie, but also it is growth spurt/ seeking comfort/getting tired and going on auto. If you are curious, try expressing one boob fully, and letting it settle in the fridge for a few hours. You should notice the milk has separated into two, a thicker cream like layer, and a slightly clearer thinner layer. As long as there is some of the cream layer, your milk is fine! If you express after a feed, you should see that the cream layer is a bigger proportion, as LO will have taken the thinner foremilk. If i am doing one full boob express, and one post feed express at different times in the day i usually mix the two bottles together and then divide them so there is a better mix.

Re-boobs reinflating/baby gulping. I really had to watch my fluid intake was high enough in the early days. If i didnt take enough, my boobs definitely found it harder to restock themselves quickly. I absolutely swore by this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hydrant-Litre-Drinking-Bottle-Tube/dp/B006H4T93C/ref=lh_ni_t
up until CJ was about 6 months. It has a bite tube, and a hook, so you can clip the tube to your top and have hands free drinking even in the longest feed. Once i started using it, i was getting through 3-4 refills of squash in 24hours, esp handy in the middle of the night, or stuck on the sofa pinned down by baba!

On expressing being a good indicator, well yes and no, It is very unlikely your LO will be getting LESS than you express, and i've heard quoted 30-40% more from BF than expressed.
