They definitely have growth spurts and can feed for hours on end, it doesn't mean your milk is poor quality at all. I think it's terrible midwives are saying things like that to you, you poor thing. *hugs*

I know Kira is still breast feeding now and her little girl is almost 1, I'll get her to pop on and talk about growth spurts etc, but it may not be until the morning.

If you can, get your feet up, something you wanna watch on telly and let her go at it :) even if you could give it a go laying down and then maybe you'd both get some sleep?

Over time they do become more efficient feeders, but it is not uncommon for them to feed for 1 or 2 hours in the early weeks and then want back on 45 minutes later

Moneypenny, yes, there is a growth spurt between 2 and 3 weeks. We are still "suffering it" lol, my LO is 3 weeks tomorrow and she's been eating a lot the last couple of days. Two days ago she had to wear newborn clothes, today she.does not fit in those and the 0-3 clothes are just the right size, they are not baggy anymore!! I'm amazed at how quickly she's grown!! Honestly, I measured her head to toe stretched today and she's about 50cm!!! She was tiny when she was born, she has just grown all of a sudden in the last 48h!! Next growth spurt is between 4-6 weeks, and the next at 3months I believe.

    Hey Gilly!!!!!!
Mozzy pm'd me to say some of you were hiding in here. I'm wonderful (except I've gone back to work this week hence more time to use the internet, lol). My little boy is great too. We've had an amazing year and made 3 new friends via NCT, so I've spent a lot of time with them over the year. It's weird being back at work but I guess it had to happen some time. How's your little man doing? Walking?! :)

.... Just reading back a bit. Missed the name of who was asking about long BF feeds. I only breast fed for 3 months, but my LO had a few feeds of over 2 hours and we were combination feeding (had no choice really about this) so he shouldn't have been starving. I think it was more about comfort........

    Hey Lirin,
So many familiar 'faces'. How are you doing?

    Gilly, full time :(
Can't be helped and I knew I'd always need to go back full time. I was supposed to go back after 9 months but thanks to my wonderful hubby, managed an extra few months. I'm skint now though :rotfl:

Oh, I'm back at SW too - lost 6 lbs last week over the xmas week :rotfl: and getting weighed tonight (usually a Monday but moved for this week). I still have 10 lbs of post pregnancy weight to lose and then the mountain I should never have gained in my many years before ;)
