oh gosh, no ear or hair food here. he did put yoghurt in his eye once but hes a bit better with a spooon now, still no expert by any means but it at least hits the lower half of his face!

He has JUST FALLEN ASLEEP ON MY LAP. This never happens, I boob him to sleep every nap and every night. !!!!!!?! My baby is confusing me the last few days, and sleep deprivation + confusion = not good!

bless him he looks really gormless with his mouth open and a load of dribble coming out, ahhh i'm so mean! ;)

So, I've been on my first ever trip to Aldi! It's a 15-minute walk from my house and I've walked past it hundreds of times, but this time I actually went in, tempted by nappies and alcohol :o First impression: Katie, I can totally see why you'd intend to get fruit and veg and end up with a trolley full of chocolate. I managed to restrict myself to a carrot and oat loaf cake, which is so yummy I've already eaten half of it, and a packet of biscuits. Oh, and bananas and a bag of rocket, just to balance things out a bit :) I'd never be able to do all my food shopping there; there are too many things I eat that they don't have, but for the odd top-up for basics: not bad!

Very impressed by the price of the nappies, but to be honest I'm not 100% sure about the quality - they feel a bit papery, and not as soft as Pampers. But maybe I'll get used to them; we'd save £10-15 a month by switching, and the girl actually wearing said nappies doesn't seem to mind - she did a huge poo within minutes of putting one on :o Oh, and I like the giraffe at the back - very cool :)

The Ballycastle will be tested tonight :D

nutella the super 6 are always good - 6 fruit or veg for either 69p or 39 p each, different ones each week.

Hope you get on ok with the nappies - have to say we love them here, no problems, least leaky we've tried and no funky smell. And cool animals, including the handy back-of-giraffe to let you know which is the back of the nappy ;)

BLW-ing ladies, when you need to use milk in a recipe, do you use breastmilk, formula or blue top milk? Can you tell me why you made your choice? I've only ever used BM when making him porridge, but I slipped up the other day, I had mashed potato for dinner (with cow's milk, green top, and cheese in it) and I totally forgot and Reuben ate quite a bit.

Am now wondering if this could have been the cause of the horrific green nappies I've had for the last two days?

They say 6 months + for blue top cows milk in cooking, but if they re-act go back to formula/BM.

I use Non dairy milk in all my cooking but that's because I have to. xx

For the last week I've been using blue top for his porridge, and I was dribbling a bit on weetabix for him but it turns out he prefers it dry. No adverse reactions as yet. He's gobbled down three quarters of a jacket spud tonight (it was a teensy one but still good going!) and I let him deal with the skin this time. Fingers crossed all that spud will keep him asleep a bit better tonight, I've been offering boob more often too, try and keep him topped up. Only problem with that is if he's not really hungry he tends to have a sly chomp. I swear those teeth are getting sharper!

Oh and reason behind blue top rather than BM - too lazy to be messing about with the pump all the time and I never got the hang of hand expressing.

Turtle, I use blue top too for things like porridge. When we started weaning at 23 weeks I used formula, but switched to cow's milk a couple of weeks ago with no adverse reaction. She's also had cheddar, ricotta, cottage cheese and plenty of yoghurt, so definitely no dairy intolerance here. In terms of why - I thought she was old enough at six and a half months to start getting used to cow's milk - plus, sometimes I eat some of her food too and formula tastes vile...

Katie, fingers crossed for sleep tonight - that's good going on the potato front! I think we're in for another messy night - she's got a cold and is struggling to sleep and keeps coughing and then the dummy falls out... :(
