I appear to have a poorly little boy today :-(
He woke at 5.45, had a bottle and appeared awake and happy as normal. Then he was sick - proper sick not just spitting up as there was loads of it and it smelt bad. He went back to sleep for over an hour - which he never does. Then he had his next bottle and after that one he was sick another three times. He was getting all fractious and wanted to be held and cuddled which is really not like him and he dropped off to sleep in my arms. I was getting a bit worried, with all this talk of norovirus in the news. Anyway, he woke crying when his next feed was due. He had almost the whole bottle and went back off to sleep. I changed his nappy and it was nice and wet so I don't think he's dehydrated and I've checked him over for rashes just in case. He hasn't brought back up any of that last bottle so I'm letting him sleep and keeping an eye on him. I think if he doesn't improve I'll call the GP in the morning. I'm hoping it's just a bit of an upset tummy and he'll feel better after a rest. Poor little man :-( I was planning on walking into town today aswell but thought we'd better stay in instead.0 -
Oh boo Elelyn, hope he gets better soon. If not, definitely call the doctor in the morning xDFD February 2012

Hope he gets better Elelyn.
Right wish me luck (and self-restraint) - MIL's in the area and probably at the hotel near here, threatening to walk up any time between now and about four (praying more four than now)... must not kill... must not kill... must not say something I probably should regret but won't...Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Thanks mozzy. I am debating calling the surgery today. They are crap though and will probably tell me to ring back in the morning. They don't even do urgent "on the day" appointments anymore, just telephone appointments which you have to book by ringing at 8am in the morning. Last time I wanted an urgent appointment for Theo I had to have an argument with the receptionist followed by a telephone appointment with the nurse practitioner before they agreed I could take him in to see the GP (who was lovely and really helpful). He's only a baby for goodness sake, he should be able to see his GP!0

Hope he feels better soon elelyn. Your doctors sound awful! As soon as I say to mine that George needs to see someone they always get me in within an hour or two. Think I'd be seeing what other surgeries are local if mine were as bad as yours...
You could try calling nhs direct as when I called them once for G the doctor I spoke to ended up calling my gp for me and getting me booked in for that afternoon.
Bellola glad you've got somewhere with the new formula, hope you can get the reflux issue sorted too
We had another crap night generally unsettled and rustling around when he eventually did get off and up 3 times (fed twice, dummy once) then up at 6. He should be worn out with all the wriggling and rolling and trying to crawl he's doing!Newborn thread member

Well, I couldn't settle so I rang NHS Direct. They said that because Theo has vomited three times he needs to be seen by a GP within the next 12 hours. I've rung the surgery and they're getting a doctor to call me back within the next two hours and if they feel he needs to be seen we can then take him in. Drives me mad. He's only 14 weeks old, we should be able to take him in without all this business of telephone consultations. Especially as NHS Direct told me he needs to be seen and checked over. Grrrrr.
I'm sure it's nothing serious but I just couldn't settle without speaking to someone - I'd never forgive myself if it did turn into something nasty and I'd not had him looked at. Better safe than sorry and all that.
NHS Direct nearly frightened the life out of me though with their questions. And she kept saying "if this happens dial 999 for an ambulance, if that happens dial 999 for an ambulance, if the other happens dial 999 for an ambulance". Got me all panicky!0 -
Just spoken to our nice GP and he can see Theo at 3.30 so I'm going to have get him up so we can walk up there. Fingers crossed all is okay.0

Glad you've got an appointment elelyn, even if it was a hassle to get it sorted!
Have you ever used the nhs online symptom checker? Pretty much every time I've used it it tells me to call 999 or go straight to a&e. normally I just take some paracetamol and get on with stuff :rotfl:Newborn thread member
