  • Evening ladies :)

Nutella hope LO has settled again now? Awful when they just scream out of the blue :(

Jedi - yep my George is 7 months now and his sleep has gone totally downhill from when he was born! We weaned early at 5 months as I was desperate and there was an improvement for a few weeks but it didn't last. Tbh I don't think he's all that hungry anymore, just a habit thing. But today I've made a real effort to drink more water (in awful for getting dehydrated) and I've been offering him boobs much more often to keep him topped up. And (probably coincidence) tonight is the first evening we've had in ages that he's not woken up before I've got into bed. We shall see, I'm not getting my hopes up!

Bedtime for me anyway, fingers crossed for sleepy babies all round x

    Hello!!

Hi Sunshine - hope you had a better night hun!! Charlie has tea at 3:30pm, so we give him something as soon as he gets home, then bottle before bed.

Nappy changing - oh my god i dread these. Its a battle. He constantly tries to flip over and starts kicking. Nightmare!!!!

I can recommend Cow and Gate My First Muesli - Charlie loves it. I do it with a little warm milk. Goes down a treat here. I've tried it too, not bad lol x

Aiden loves that one too....I tasted it for the temperature and it was actually quite nice!!! Hows his cough hun?

Aiden was on second lot of antibiotics as they think hes allergic to amoxicillin. He finished those on Tuesday and was fine, but I swear its coming back

katiechoc - there's another (yes, yet another) sleep regression that seems to hit any time from about 6 to 9 months (it's meant to be nearer 9 months but ours wasn't!) when there's so much developmentally going on that their brains just can't deal with it very well - we ran into it mid seven months and it was probably the worst so far with a really rough couple of weeks of it. Nighttime sleep did go back to normal in the end - daytime naps are still flipping dreadful!

Jedi, if you have a non sleeper, weaning won't make any difference, so just ignore people who say it's a magic cure. :D I had the sudden awful realisation last night as I was waiting for him to sleep, that I used to work shifts when my eldest was little...so I have no idea when this ends! :D

Thanks dizzi, fingers crossed its only temporary. Slightly better last night, only up twice. Although up for an hour the first time.

Toy library for us today then out for a drink with OH and his colleagues later - got to ring the pub and make sure G is allowed in.

Well, I couldn't settle so I rang NHS Direct. They said that because Theo has vomited three times he needs to be seen by a GP within the next 12 hours. I've rung the surgery and they're getting a doctor to call me back within the next two hours and if they feel he needs to be seen we can then take him in. Drives me mad. He's only 14 weeks old, we should be able to take him in without all this business of telephone consultations. Especially as NHS Direct told me he needs to be seen and checked over. Grrrrr.

I'm sure it's nothing serious but I just couldn't settle without speaking to someone - I'd never forgive myself if it did turn into something nasty and I'd not had him looked at. Better safe than sorry and all that.

NHS Direct nearly frightened the life out of me though with their questions. And she kept saying "if this happens dial 999 for an ambulance, if that happens dial 999 for an ambulance, if the other happens dial 999 for an ambulance". Got me all panicky!

NHS Direct are pointless. They can't diagnose over the phone, so they go with the 'worst-case scenario' advice. Plus it's all scripted and not tailored to an individual. Worst of all, it's not even staffed by nurses any more - it's merely a call-centre with non-medical staff reading off scripts designed by the medical profession.

Don't use it. If you're worried about your baby, phone your GP.

    How's Theo today?

I've found it to be quite useful in the past, especially out of hours. Normally have to speak to the call centre people and get a call back from a nurse or doctor. Obviously only for minor things though!

Decided against toy library, it's freezing and barely light outside so going to stay in and try and whizz through the cleaning so we can stick a Xmas movie on this afternoon and do some wrapping.

These little people do have a habit of worrying us one way or another don't they?!

Today is my last day of maternity leave - hung it out to the bitter end! Am now on annual leave until the New Year and go back to work the day before my dating scan :o

That and the sudden arrival of a vaccination notice for dd makes me realise how fast this year has gone - I wondered why they were writing to me then realised she needs more jabs at 1 and that's next month. Eeek!

I'm off to meet up with a friend today who has a two week old so looking forward to cuddles. My munchkin tried to stick a biscuit in his face last time they met but generally seemed interested in him but not jealous so that was nice. It is horrible wet and windy out there though so not so keen on that.
