I got told off for reappearing and not saying hello... so hello.

Erin's 8 months on Sunday and while she's still got physical development more in line with the 6 and a little bit months she should be (she's only just starting to get the hang of sitting and doing the stranded goldfish first attempts to crawl), in terms of her size... 75th centile for weight AND length for her actual age and in 9-12 month clothes! She's pretty much caught up from being tiny completely (but we always suspected she'd be on the tall side) and just about missed out 6-9 month clothes. In terms of her communication milestones they've caught up as well - loads of chattering away to herself, sing-song concerts to Bunny at 5am, lots of indiscriminate mama and dadas.

Still get battles with one idiotic health visitor who forgets to adjust expectations for milestones etc. Oh and we're on three meals a day of mashed stuff (couldn't do BLW because of a) prematurity and b) she's too lazy to bother with finger food when I try!), zero night feeds - she'll go from 6.30 to 6.30 and when she wakes up she sings herself back to sleep... still no sign of teeth though - we've been "teething" for months!

Oh and the bump is progressing fine (given me horrific SPD again though) and appears to be another little girlie - due date a week after Erin's first birthday.

Off up to see my family for Christmas - going to take her to see the reindeer in the park and the lights and things (and wade into family World War 3 as my cousin's decided to name her child after my dog and is likely to take a huffy fit from hell when my dog shows up getting called the same name - she had it first!)

Oh and with carseats - we went into one that did from 0+ to 3/4 years-ish when I got sick of bashing my legs trying to cart the wretched carrier around... it's still rear-facing at the moment (you can turn it from 9kg or keep it rear facing till around 13kg) and she's much more comfy in it than she was in her baby in a bucket type one - because of her height her head was getting near the top of it at an alarming rate!

I'd say A loves his too, he can see up out and just looks so much more comfy, next time il definitely just use this type from birth I think.

Only problem there is when they refuse to believe you've got a carseat and won't let you leave the maternity ward! (I know of this happening to a few people!)

We've bought a Britax infant carrier for the next one purely because it clips onto the pushchair frame (switching to a B-Dual as the best of a bad bunch where tandems are concerned) and I like having the option - but we'll definitely get a second Britax First Class+ one as soon as it becomes too heavy to carry (I love the fact they have a pocket to store the instruction manuals in ON the seat as well).

Dizzi, you're back! :jI've been thinking of you and glad you are doing OK. How far along is bump now? 20 weeks if you know it's a girl?

As for the car seat thing, as we don't own a car I've read the law very carefully about when you need one and when you don't. If you get a taxi home from the hospital you legally don't need a carseat, and same (more obviously) if you get the bus. We do have a carseat though but transporting the bloody thing without a car is a bit of a pain. I'm hoping for a home birth but if not will probably walk to the hospital! And if I am able to probably walk home too - it's only 30 mins on foot. Our hospital's papers said something about 'recommending' you have a seat but it wasn't obligatory.

I read the baby/dog thing as she'd named the baby after the dog :rotfl:
(which I guess is what she's done but a bit accidentally :) )

Walk!! You're brave, i could barely move haha. I reckon it'll obviously all depend on what type of birth you have, just keep your options open.

    Hello all

Aiden did not go to bed til 850 tonight  I dont know why though!

Think we are going to drop his afternoon bottle. So he will just be on 2 bottles per day :( he just isnt fussed with it and definately doesnt want it at nursery as there is too much going on I think, he just doesnt want to be still with a bottle. Sad though, he definately isnt a little baby anymore!!

Put our tree up tonight. Aiden hasnt really been bothered though.

Hope you are all ok. Ill read back and catch up xx

Charlie is definitely still a major milk lover. He's on 4 bottles a day now - 6:30pm, midnight, 6am, 12pm. Even if he's just had food, he gets dead excited if he finds a bottle, then dead upset that there's nothing in it!!

Heyo Mozzyc, savageHK and everyone else!

Laughing at the indignation of there being no milk in the bottle - we've had to resort to carrying bottles of milk into the room under a muslin or hell breaks loose if it's not instantly handed over, and when I took too long to give her it the other day she helped herself, shoved it in her mouth and scowled at me with a "you're fired" look on her face! I have to prove the bottle's empty to her by putting the cap back on it and letting her check the cap's on before I'm allowed to take it away!

And I'm 22 weeks next Wednesday - having to fight all the way to get the risk of another preemie taken seriously, and being monitored fairly closely for mental health as I've got a severe anxiety disorder (I think basically it's PTSD) over what went on last time which I'm on meds for but will have to start reducing them soon so the baby's not born affected by them (it can make them very colicky and irritable at birth apparently) - booked in at the other hospital in town this time (which is actually CLEAN!) but they're so snowed under it's luck of the draw if they're not closed to admissions when I make the call - but I've now apparently got it flagged on my notes via mental health that I'm a higher priority NOT to send to the hellhole again (other weekend they were sending women to Lincoln and Leicester apparently!).

yep, following the 'I'll have no idea what it's like until it's here' approach, although the walking to hospital comment was more if I end up having to be induced. If the home birth starts but we need to transfer it's blue lights all the way even if it's not a massive emergency ;) We'll see what OH says though, he'll have to carry my bags!
