    Morning everyone :)

Wow Crazychik - you sound like you have so much going on, take care of yourself...

Penny Pincher - Sorry you are not keeping so well. Your ability to keep your sense of humour and remain upbeat with everything you go through is amazing.

I feel well rested this morning. Oh and I had a good chat last night so feel really upbeat. DD and I have a quiet day planned, she has lots of things to keep her entertained after her birthday at the weekend. I deliberately put the new pressies away so I can keep bringing the new things out as and when it seems appropriate.

We need to pop out to get a couple more airers for our clothes since I have decided to go without a new tumble dryer until we get to Oz so will pop to Argos, I could also do with some new towels but am so far undecided as to whether to go for them. I also need to send parcels to NZ and Australia for my nieces birthdays I bought some nice light things to go in there so I hope it doesn't cost too much. Dinner needs to be made and a quick tidy round to be done but that is about it :)

Have a good day everyone :)

Edit : Glad - My mum always used to slice roast beef and cook it again like a steak and do a red wine and mushroom sauce with it. That was always nice. I like to make a chilli with my leftover beef. It's always really tender.
  • Good Morning!

Hugs for crazychik and anybody else who needs one :grouphug:
I haven't posted for a few days because I was feeling a bit low and it was an effort. Also, I had some good news yesterday, and everybody on here seemed to be having such a rotten time of it, I felt a bit guilty. However, I thought I'd share......my insurers have agreed to pay my critical illness! :j
Although, not enough to pay off the mortgage, it's more money than either me or DH have seen in our lives. We need to pay some off the mortgage first, then we need to gut the house and do each room up.
I'm hoping that this is a good omen for the rest of the week, as I'm going to get my results tomorrow that determine whether I need to have any more treatment. Today though, I have to go to the surgery to see if the nurse can get any blood out of me. My MIL usually takes me, but as we've seen hide nor hair of her since her outburst, it looks like it's either a walk or the bus for me today.
We've got two free cinema tickets for this evening to go and see Notes On A Scandal. We'll have a meal afterwards. Hopefully, this'll take my mind off tomorrow, but I doubt it! ;)

    Have a fabby day everybody!
  • Morning everyone :hello:

Slept really well last night but felt that I could have done with another hour or so. Still, I'm not at the office today so I can be as busy or as lazy as I like. Well, not really actually. I have the dreaded diabetic check-up tomorrow. Don't know why I get so worked up - my blood sugar has been very good recently and I have lost 7lbs of the stone that I have put on over the winter. I am doing regular exercise again and trying to eat all the right things so I imagine the rest of the weight and hopefully some more will start to drop off again.

Crazychik My DD went on a 3-day activity break in November. It should have cost £80 but the headteacher phoned every company he could think of for sponsorship and managed to get the cost for parents down to just £20. Have the school offered any help re the cost or transport? The car-sharing idea sounds a good one.

PenPen I would be horrified if the headteacher at DD's school told governors that they could no longer just drop into school. The headteacher is supposed to report to the board of governors, not the other way round. I would raise any concerns with the chairman. DD's HT has even asked for all governors to take responsibility for at least one subject of the curriculum, visit school at least once a year and provide feedback to the board. I think it is a wonderful idea - even though I have responsibility for three subjects.

Edited to say: seroxat chick that's great news! What a difference that will make to your life. You shouldn't keep good news to yourself though, you know. (couldn't insert the little "naughty" smiley here. I'm not telling you off!)

Well, the exercise cycle is demanding attention right now so toodles. x

  • OH tends to suffer with selective sight i.e. he only sees beer in the fridge and not the ironing pile

Littlemiss - LOL - Don't worry my DH is exactly the same, he doesn't see the debris on the carpet, or the fact that all his ironing is done first so he never runs out of anything to wear

Also - Good luck to Shirley, We'll all have things crossed for you :D

    Morning all

Todays the day for my barium enema...am definitely not looking forward to it. Must remember to drink a lot in order to flush everything out [ hope you aren't eating your breakki]
Going to try and be busy to keep my mind off it. OH is coming home at lunch in order to come with me to the hospital. I might moan about him sometimes but when I really need him he comes up trumps.
Just want today over and done with...catch up with you tomorrow
We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.

So glad to hear seroxat chick good news, and that some of you had found some sleep at last.

Crazychik School trips are so crazy, if you think about it, and shopped around, you could buy a full set of camping equipment for the amount your two would pay out, and go away for many a camping weekend, plus main holidays. Camp Sites are a great environment for kids to mix and take part in the chores, and everyone tends to talk to one another. We spent years using the "Ready-Erected" camping holidays in France, even though we could afford to "hotel" but enjoyed the freedom. We've upgraded to a caravan now though need a little more comfort as one gets older.

Hugs to those fighting the "bugs" and other not too well.

Good Luck with the promotion, and I agree with the Governor comments, why have Parent-Governers if they are not allowed to ensure the parents concerns are considered?

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
