  • Two cars in the family with same renewal date.

Had £1858 renewal for car 1 from LV= (includes Me, wife and 18yo son with one year experience)

£575 renewal for car 2 with my friends at Admiral. Just me and wife insured.

Keen to move away from the Pirates and impressed by LV=
I have one claim in last few years.

LV= do 5% discount for additional cars so got a quote of £464 for car 2 and got fresh quote for Car 1 which now qualifies for 5% discount. Got it down to £1409.

Very happy to have saved over £550 and both cars covered by a better company and policy.

Also with LV= I can state the main driver, registered keeper, owner, policyholder exactly as I need it without any material cost impact. e.g. car 1 I am policyholder, RK, owner but wife is main driver. This allows me to use my NCD to keep down cost of having son using the car.
Car 2 I am RK, owner, main driver and wife is the policyholder.

  • Paid £250 last year with Hastings, which included a quidco cashback. My renewal came in at £303. Just got a quote for £213, including cashback (topcashback) with Admiral. £90 saving!

Just to add, i tried all the comparison sites and then went to Quidco and clicked on the link throughs to the cheaper companies. The quotes were no where near the comparison site quotes, and even with the cashback were more expensive. Seems they may 'add' extra on quidco?? Admiral were the same on the comparisons and through topcashback, then of course take the cashback off.

  • I managed to knock £150 off my renewal premium by showing an online quote to my insurance broker who then matched it.

For the past 4 years they have been cheapest so I was surprised to fund out how much dearer they were. Shows to always check.

So not only do I get the cheapest quite, I also get a local service!
  • Cut 3 car multi insurance renewal bill from just over £1600 to just under £1200 - I am very happy, thanks MSE.

We had an Admiral 3 car multi policy but went through suggested sites in turn and now have a 2 car multi with Aiva, who phoned me to offer better deal than internet and third car stand alone policy with Diamond from Confused.com.

Admiral was even cheaper on the comparison site for my daughters car than on the original multicar renewal cost we were offered...

    Definately worth the effort.
  • Rather than accept the renewal quote for my daughter's car I followed the advice on your website and saved £900! Amazing!

Just paid £162.50 to Swinton through Topcashback. £40.40 from them, and £40 claimable from Swinton gives £82.10.

Halifax was in second place with a quote of £141.84 and £50 cashback giving £91.84

That was last year. Gone to Halifax this year with a quote of £135.27 fully comp, no add-ons and 0 voluntary excess. £50 cashback through Quicdo, so net cost £85.27 which is OK in the current climate I think.
  • This may go against what some have found but the cheapest for me (young driver) this year was Bell. Total price £360 renewal with 3 years NCB, age 28.

Hastings Essential couldn't insure my 1999 Honda Civic as car too old!

Last years insurance renewal was £867 with one years no claims but only just passed my test. Since then I've had a write off and consequently lost my no claims. Expected maybe a slight increase to around the value of my first ever premium which was around £1200.

Renewal quote came through the door for a whopping £7600 from LV... Quick visit to some comparison sites and a haggling phonecall later ive come away with a quote of £766.38 from Diamond... almost a tenth of the price!

Saved myself the sum total of £6,883.62! Cannot believe it!
  • Used confused.com and expected a price increase as I am female, no change in price here!
  • Checked on confused.com and moneysupermarket as suggested and my car insurance fell by over £400. THANKS!
