Multiple car insurance due 1st May. Tried sites as listed in order by Martin but way too expensive. My renewal from Admiral was £742 for 3 cars, me, wife and daughter. After having no luck I tried Aviva as suggested and today I have paid £546 for slightly better service plus I got £35 off for having shares.-a result I think!!:T

Aviva multiple car worked out £100 a car dearer for me than individual policies, and won't cover my daughter at all. Is your daughter over 21 or 25 by any chance?

My AA renewal came in at £571.84 up from the previous years £340. Followed the guide in the forum and landed up with Aviva at £247, could have got slightly cheaper elsewhere but aviva had better cover. This tidy saving has paid for my years road tax (£250) and left some change over for a tank of fuel.
    Result :T

Please, please read the small print. Some years ago we went with Multi Car insurance and stayed with the same company for several years as the rates seemed reasonable at the time and our No Claims Bonus %s were increasing annually. We had specifically asked if both our NCBs would continue to be valid, and were assured that they would be. However, when we wanted to move due to a significant rise in charges we were told that the 2nd Car driver NCB was not transferrable. Leaving us with the option of staying with the same company forever or starting with no NCB elsewhere! We opted to take the cheapest car to insure elsewhere and start again - I don't like being bullied. So, you may save this year, but may loose out in the end!
Sorry - I may have posted this in the wrong place, but new to this!

Our multi-renewal quote from Admiral came in at £770 and the best they could do to price match was £695ish.

Insuring the two cars separately with Post Office and Hastings Direct (both via Quidco) we managed to get both insurances for a few pence more than £600 after cashback. 9 years protected NCB and only £100/£95 excess respectively (compared to Admiral's £60).

So overall saving vs renewal price: 22% or £85 per car. Well worth a phone call to Admiral and a quick hunt around the comparison sites (Aviva multi-car was much more expensive for the record).

My renewal quote had gone up by 500 to £1200 for no reason at all - no accidents or claims in the past year

I had a look through the usual suspects on google and the quotes were all about £1000 - still way too much

Searching a bit deeper I found InsureAnts.co.uk, rung their call centre and I got my insurance for £764!!!! Still more than last year but cheapest I could find by a country mile!

Moral of the story is keep on searching you're bound to get it cheaper somewhere!

Last year I went with Swinton and paid £109 for my car insurance. Renewal this year they wanted £177!!! Shopped around and got a deal with RAC which was £144 but had an £80 cashback deal with Quidco so got the insurance for £64. That's £64 for the year by the way.
But I would have left Swinton anyway as I was sick of being plagued with phone calls, texts and emails offering me additional things I didn't want. I lost track of the times they rang me telling me I qualified for 6 months free breakdown cover and they just couldn't seem to accept that I didn't want it!
  • wow - £109 for car insurance, I can only dream of that!
