Car insurance successes stories

I've been reducing my car insurance cost for the last 5+ years by working out what the best deal was and then being cheeky (but cheerful) on the phone with Aviva.
I started off paying about £250 per year with a £200 excess.
I've managed to get it cheaper every year since and have just got it for £106 with a zero excess.
I'll be looking to get under the magic £100 barrier next year :-)
Surely that's worth a badge MSE Badger?0 -
Today is exactly 21 days from my renewal date - the sweet spot according to :money:
- I worked my way through all the comparison sites
- Added a respectable family member to the policy
- Offered the existing insurer the opportunity to price match
- Saved up this year so I did not have to pay in installments
(I ended up choosing the 3rd cheapest quote as they had better benefits plus phones manned by humans for customer services rather than just email support)
Result! £350 down from £510 which I think is good considering I have my 23 year old DD on the policy :T0 -
Managed to get a good discount on my Admiral renewal. The original renewal quote was £291 with a total excess of £350. Found a quote from Churchill for 258 with a 200 total excess. When I phoned Admiral they lowered the renewal to 234 and the total excess to 200!0

I am planning on moving into Dubai and was looking for a good car and apt insurance that can support my potential risks.
That's when my friend spoke about a story of how his entire organization has taken insurance from the Oman insurance company.
All the fleet of cars that are sponsored to the employees by the company is insured by this group.
And during a huge crisis where all cars were damaged all expenses were taken under the comprehensive policy.
So there was no turning back for me on which would be my choice for the insurance company.
If you want to rest assured about the safety of the investment you have put in your car. Go with OIC0 -
Although still not cheap (expensive car, high risk location), after an accident last year my LV insurance quote jumped by more than 400% to £5,400. Some quick comparison shopping got my new car insurance down to £1,070 with... LV. I even called to check and the agent's advise was 'use the quote online my friend'.
Astonishing, really.0 -
Got my renewal quote, only a small increase, not as much as I was anticipating, but still...
Went to price comparison site, price for comparable cover not a lot different to renewal price but phoned current insurer to ‘discuss’ the renewal as it was still a little more than I really wanted to pay...
