For the first time in 10 years of driving, my renewal has actually been lower than I paid the previous year. Since last year, I've turned 30 and moved house so I'm wondering if that has helped?

I can't find it cheaper anywhere using Martin's formula (well not by more than £10) but I am with Esure so to now know they offer £84 cashback - it was something like £31.50 the other day - means I will probably stay with them and just join as a new customer! :)

There's a reason why they so cheap

Appreciate the links - some "good" reading - but I've had no bother in the year I've been with them. Got 3 weeks til renewal so we'll see if I can get it cheaper still! :)

  • We got a quote through the door for 2 vehicle 750 pounds. After we check it on gocompare it shoved 550 pounds. We logged in on aviva website and it was 400 pounds!!! Great saving
  • I cut my annual premium for my car by half. 1st central quoted me a renewal of £1300. Swift managed to beat that by £700

I had a renewal quote from my Insurer for £644 Using several comparison sites I now have full comprehensive Insurance with the SAME COMPANY for £286 a saving of £358 !!!:money::money: In all it took me 45 mins from opening the renewal email to completing the deal.
I am very chuffed I read Martins advice about loyalty having no discount (I can not remember the full quote) But good on you mate.:T
  • I had managed to get my quote reduced with my current insurer from £489 last year to £415 this year. I have been with the same insurer for years as I felt it was a hassle to swap. However this year thanks to advice on this site, I put my :money: thinking cap on and rang a local insurer and got the same insurance for £285!! Plus it was no hassle at all! :rotfl:
Now I can use the £204 I saved to pay some of my debt off as I strive along the road to debt freedom! :T
    LBM 01/03/12 Debt £[STRIKE]27924[/STRIKE]
    now £0 100% paid :j  :T

My AA renewal came in at £300, it was £270 last year. Weird the AA put out a press release a short while ago saying how prices had gone down - obviously didn't include themselves in the figures !

Got a quote from LV for £210 - challenged the AA with this and they immediately matched it. Makes me think I could maybe have got it even cheaper. Good to have got the saving but it does leave a bad taste in the mouth about how the industry operates and their understandable love of autorenewal.
  • Direct line renewal came in at £325 for me, web site suggested £230 so reduced voluntary excess down to 0 and web site came back at £257.

Renewals team price matched their own web site so result!

I'm trying to get quote for my 18 year old son who just passed his driving test, but without a car reg. I am unable to obtain a quote as that is required field to complete the form.

Where can I get a quote based on a certain model of car I have in mind to buy but not actually bought yet.
I need to know the cost of insurance b/f buying the car.
Thanks in advance for any reply.

Try searching for a car for sale that is the model/age/specs you are hoping to buy and use the reg on that car, it gives you the option to say not bought yet. My daughter is doing the same at the moment to find the insurance prices on various types of car.
