My renewal quote was £500 with Zurich.
I used the tools on this site, and all the recommended comparison sites, and got it down to £425 with legal cover, windscreen cover, breakdown cover, a courtesy car and protected no claims with BG :j
Did have to haggle a bit to get it to that with all the extras as the cheapest on the comparison site was £478Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

Mines probably going to seem expensive compared to the majority of the ones on here but my renewal for going into my third year of driving is £560 (hoping to get some student discount knocked off it too)
But it's quite cheap considering my cheapest quote on the comparison sites is £1100 and consider for my 1st and 2nd years I paid £3000 and £900 so I'm happy0 -
After having my renewal quote from Aviva through for my 2010 VW T5 as £477, I decided that was too much as I always pay monthly by direct debit and £49 a month I think is a bit steep. I have a clean licence and am 32 years old with 13 years NCD. I also have my wife on as a named driver but she is 30 ( back of the net ) with just 3 points.
I had a look around and as I am a member of the VW T4 Forum , found that the insurance thread on there has a wealth of camper van specific insurance chat. A real pot of gold, I learnt about a company called Brentacre who do Camper van insurance and modified car stuff as well as vintage car insurance.
After using the usual comparison sites which did save me a lot of money, I ended up going with Brentacre as not only were they real cheap but the customer service is fantastic and the guys there are really helpful.
I ended up with a quote of £330 ( including european ins cover free ) meaning I saved £147 !!! which I was really happy with as my van was not cheap so I am unlikely to ever get into the 96p realms, although I was unaware of the cashback side of insurance. So I will now be keeping my eagle eyes peeled for that.
Happy penny pinching.:beer:0 -
got my renewal in from kwik fit in november last year £1300 quote same as last year. Using the tips from your page i looked round different insurers, and found one for £292 from budget. I phoned kwik fit to see if the could beat they said lowest they could go was £586 so hello budget saved myself a small tidy sum of money pretty chuffed with myself.:j:T:j:T0

I passed my test a couple of years ago and the cheapest insurance I cold get was over £900 with Tesco. Their renewal quote a year later was over £700 so I followed Martin's advice of checking several comparison sites. Ended up paying only £250 with Diamond :money:
I managed to pay it in one lump so I don't have an expensive monthly payment coming out anymore. More money I can pay off my other debts! Thanks Martin :TDFD 7/3/2016

Managed to get mine down from £430 (the AA) to just £198 (Axa)!
How it widely varies by such a large amount I don't know! Some companies wanted over £800 for the same level of cover as Axa...0 -
Not sure if it's been asked yet (haven't managed to read all the pages) but is anyone here a young driver?
I would love to see how low a young driver could get it as I managed to get my first one for £800 which I think was pretty good at the time.0 -
Quoted by Elephant my provider for over 8 years. I am on their 10 month bonus accelerator. They wanted 590 to renew, it was about 600 the year before.
After reading and joining this site, asked for a loyalty bonus or I am leaving. Slashed it down to 248, result!!
Even the price comparison website didn't give me that low, the lowest was 312 for 12 months."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

When I first started driving my insurance was £800 for 6 months!!
I've had a couple of 'high powered gas guzzlers' in the past few years and at my last renewal for the latest gas guzzler it was £300 for the year!! Adding my hubby helped alot!
However i have now upgraded my car / downsized my engine and the cost... £225 for this year!! Woop!! Along with £50 vouchers to spend!SPC6 #116 £652.75
SPC7 #116 £674.50
SPC8 #116 £10100 -
I'm a happy person.
Car insurance bill came in ( plus RAC). Had gone up by £60.
Followed MSE website and went on the different search websites compare the market etc and LVE kept coming up as the cheapest. (Strangely the three sites came up with the same site but with different prices!!) I then rang up my old insurance company explained that I could get it cheaper elsewhere - they then did another search and quoted me a price even cheaper than the cheapest one (LVE ) which was £70 cheaper than the original quote and £10 cheaper than the comparison sites. What made me smile is when they went through the documentation they then explained that it was underwritten by LVE!!!
Thanks to Mse's tip saved an additional £50 because I had my husband put into my insurance again.
