Sorry to go off the topic a bit here but...

Why wait for your car insurance renewal to use Quidco? There's house insurance, mobile phone contracts, Utilities switching (gas, electricity, home phone, broadband), magazine subscriptions not to mention all the various shopping sites.

    House insurance - January
    Mobile - December
I'm happy with my phone/broadband etc. (for now plus I'm not very adventurous when it comes to things like this...yet)
    Magazine subscriptions - I can't read haha...well I can but I don't subscribe to any mags.

My car insurance is the closest thing that is up for renewal. I've never used Quidco before so I'm abit apprehensive because I don't really know how it works what with all the disabling ad blocker and not clearing cookies etc.

If it does actually work and I get my cashback through The Pru, I get my car insurance for £333 which would be down from £526! Not bad!

hi i'm an 18 year old lad with 1 years driving experience on my mums policy.

my cheapest quote so far has been £902 third party f&t on my own policy from quinn direct

I drive a 1996 seat ibiza 1.4 (insurance group 4) and already have breakdown cover

car is kept on dirveway overnight in a low risk area, and i have no previous claims

can anyone recommend insurance companies, or is it now time to haggle on the phone?

    Thanks, John

It might be too late but have you thought about taking the Pass Plus course?
It got me a reduction on my first insurance but it was my policy with my mam as the named driver instead so I could get the ncb! Providers I tried were Churchill, Tesco, The AA and Elephant who do 10 month bonus accelerator policies for those with less tan 4yrs ncb! Take a look!

Today, I'm scrapping my old car and picking up a lovely new (well, second-hand) one...

My existing insurance company couldn't continue cover (new car's an import), so I had to cancel, and they tried to charge me £45 cancellation fee! I fought and argued, almost gave in, when they conceded and refunded me.

Then on to hunt for a new policy...

I did Confused.com and Moneysupermarket.com - the latter came up with cheapest quote £630 TPFT. I then went to the direct companies as well, and got Churchill quote for £621 fully comp! Went through Quidco for £60 cashback and one very happy Badger.

Can't wait to get in the new car and start driving!

  • I used a computer comparison site to get my car insurance for the VW 1600 Turbo diesel I bought. Zurich came out at £141 for Comprehensive with NCB protection which was good, It was even better when I got the £50 worth of Marks & Spencers Vouchers from them as a reward for insuring with them.
The policy document is neat, It is the same as a credit card, Plastic.

  • OH NO!!!

Just popped home for lunch and found my insurance schedule had arrived - phoned up because they had "Honda CRX 1.6 VTI Del Sol" instead of "Honda CRX 1.5 VXI Del Sol", only to be told that I'm not insured after all!

Apparently, to have that all important X in the middle of the trim, you have to be over 25 and I've got about 5 months to go...

So now I have to get new insurance URGENTLY so that I can drive back to work after my lunch break!!!
