Hi i am new to the site and have only recently started to use martins site and advice. had a renewal quote from admiral for third party £277 after following advice checked for cheaper quotes and then eventually re-applied to admiral as a new customer - result same insurance package but now £200.
saved £77 just for some time on the computer. I am now hooked on this saving money lark
  • Hi All
    Just did RAC via Quidco....
    Fully comp....Protected no claims....legal cover.....courtesy car.....
Roadside breakdown cover....£110 (inc £70 cashback)!!!
    chrs
p.s add to that 3% cashback on credit card
  • Our renewal was £247. Using the comparison sites we got lower quotes, ended up with AIG at £146, then Quidco are giving £90 cashback.

So that's a comprehensive policy for 2 drivers on an MPV with a courtesy car, legal cover and PNCD for £56. Result!

    Cheers, Martin! :money:

    Best results from confused.com

Quote from Prudential, excluding legal cover: about £192
Quidco cashback after Quidco's cut: -£90
Includes free Green Flag breakdown cover, so would have spent an extra: -£34
    Total cost of insurance: £68

Actually I paid another £20 for legal cover so my insurance quote was £212. Without the cashback it was about a fiver more expensive than the cheapest, but included the breakdown insurance. The Pru have taken about two months to pay up through Quidco, but apparently the payment is on its way at the end of the month.
  • thanks Martin!
my car renewal quote came in at £124.34 from my broker (Budget)
after some haggling and removing the legal cover they got it down to £98.
Shopping round i got the same policy from the same underwriter thru the Post office for £109, with £50 cashback, that brought it down to £59. Then buying thru Topcashback i got a further £27.80 off. Final total for fully comp, with protected no claims = £31.20!!!
Maybe its not the best price on the forum, but it'll do me :T
  • Thanks for the advice on car insurance search engines & cashback sites - I have now managed both our cars for less than £100 each, fully comp, protected bonus & both to drive. Peugeot 307 with the Pru, £185 less £90 cashback = £95, Citroen Saxo with Budget, £124 less £25 cashback = £99. FANTASTIC.

    Hi,

My hubby and I are pensioners and don't drive much any more so we went for Norwich Union's "Pay as you Drive"

They quoted a maximum of £131 for our Siecento based on 1000 miles a year driven (at the right time of day also....basically not very late or very early).

If we drive even less miles than this it will be slightly cheaper. It includes both of us as drivers, legal protection and protected NCB. It also includes breakdown cover, and the best thing is that the RAC fitted an unobtrusive GPS with an emergency button that we press if we breakdown or have an accident. They can tell exactly where you are to send help.

Oh, and I got £50 cashback through Quidco as well making the total only £81!:T

    Some great deals on here.

My insurance is due in a few weeks and I'll be lucky to scrape just under £800 with Churchill as a new customer. ( 3rd pary only). - Possible £50 or so cashback.

1.2 Clio, Male 18 year old driver with 0 points and 1 year no claims.

Still at least it beats last years price of £1,700 with Churchill or Churchill's automatic renewal quote this year of £997.
