It's always worth checking with other companies via comparison sites and, as has been mentioned before, it's also worth applying to your existing company as a new customer.

Having last week put the Cheapest Car Insurance System in the weekly e-mail I got an email from someone saying it cut his costs down to £48. So I thought it'd be interesting to see who else seared down their car insurance that way. Did you manage it for under £100?

    thank you Martin
today I did the compare thing having received my renewal quote from Privilege. I found 4 quotes significantly cheaper than my renewal quote - one of them being Privilege. I rang them and told them - they offered me the online quote AND offered me monthly payment at 0%interest. I have saved £160 in one hit. Thank you thank you thank you!!:rotfl:
  • My renewal was £224, so I used Moneysupermarket to find Sabre quoting £123.90 for fully comp, then I went through Quidcom for £90 cashback making it £43.90 then used my Egg Money Card for another £1.24 off !!, so paid £42.66, a saving of £181.34.

    From my Quidco account:

    30 Aug 2007 00:21:06 Prudential Car Insurance 157.50 130.00 paid 01 Nov 2007

    Net cost £27.50

Suspect I won't do as well this time around

Last October, my fully comp insurance with Prudential was £184 - went through quidco, got £100 cash back and Prudential also threw in a years free breakdown cover with Green Flag - which meant I could cancel my AA sub for a year and I used my cash back credit card to pay. In effect, THEY paid me to insure my car with them :) As Fatbelly says, dont think I shall get a break like that this year.

Irisheyes, surely you are going to check out a number of other companies first? You can read what to do at the top of the thread - let us know how much you save.

Will, a 1.8 turbo Peugeot at 17? Cant you look for a cheaper to insure car with 1000 cc or something?

My fully comp policy through Pru last year cost £164 with a year's free Green Flag breakdown cover, £100 cash back through Quidco and paid with a cashback card.

So sub £64 and free breakdown cover - and will be disappointed if I can't beat that this year! :rotfl:
  • I got car insurance for £339 fully comp from Tesco back in Feb.

Using the "500points a month" code, that returned £240 in clubcard vouchers.
I also got 10 vouchers for "£10 off spend over £20", which weren't limited to 1 per shop, hence got a further £100 off.

The result? Fully comp car insurance for the equivalent of -£1 ! wahey!

Oh yeah, that included protected no claims discount too!
    Friendly greeting!

Lucy, you got same deal as me - the AA sub I cancelled was about £130 I think. :)

A couple of months later Pru had increased to £130 cash back through quidco.
