pennymakespounds wrote:loafer .. yes i know about that one ... but i'm saying that style is useless as you have to go into everything one at a time rather than the old style where you could get up to 500 posts all there on one screen just to scroll down
Penny - no you don't...
Click this iconrather than the thread title and it will take you to the first unread post. If the thread title is not in bold and the icon
does not appear then there are no new ones.
vB is cool like that0 -

don9999 ......yes it was me making these points some time ago .
when you say ....
"I select 'NEW POSTS' and am faced with about 20 or 30 pages of new posts. I scan them (as I did in the old system) and for those I'm interested in, I will right click on it and select 'Open in New Window'. Perfect! (As I said, even BETTER than the old system, as I now don't miss out on ANY new posts)."
.......I understand all of that but that is my problem ... it's so time taking .. firstly from the subject heading difficult to know if i'm interested(nb right click or left click doe the same ) .. if i think i am i have to click into the thread to read the posts . all takes forever compared to reading basically a long shopping list of up to 500 posts.
Robnyne..yes your points are right.0 -
Aha. I see the issue. Now we only get the first line or two of the message. Before we got the whole message. I take back what I said. The old system WAS better tin that regard.
So what we want is a bit of both. The NEW system (because it shows ALL posts since my last log-in, rather than me having to specify a number of posts), amended, so that it shows the whole of the post and not just the heading.
Would be great if possible. Otherwise, I can make do - at least I don't miss any posts!
Makes it critical now for people to put in meaningful Titles, rather than just 'Please help'......

the trouble is if vBulletin doesn't have this facility then we CAN'T have it back however much we discuss it,
does anyone know if it can be done, is there a site using vBulletin that does have it?I am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Pennymp I agree - it makes scan reading much more difficult and it is a real issue for me too. To be honest though at the moment - trying to make this thing go fast is our first concern. Once we've got there i want to look at changing this system as it annoys me too - we're just no where near doing it
And if any techies knows a mod to help it once we're ready - do tellMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

I was a big user of the last 500 posts(which was actually available till the last day of the old stylie forum if you knew how too get it and it would be from that particular way of being able to see the last 500 posts that you would know that fact).
I really miss it as I used to choose the boards that I was interested in and check all the recent posts(eg leaving out things like the NI moneysaver board or anything that I was not interested in)
But my main gripe is that as I am on dial up I have to stay connected all the time I am on the site to be able to go from page to page.
On the old forum I could look at the last 500 posts and if I was interested further I would reconnect.
Since the new forum I have not been on here so much, and I do find it very infuriating but I am lucky as I have been around the site for about a year so most of my main money saving things I have in place it is just the bargains that I may miss out on now.
PLEASE PLEASE CAN WE HAVE THIS FACILITY IF AVAILABLE WITH THE NEW FORUM0 -
Folks. I know how much this is wanted. I want it too. So be assured it is on the list of TTD! But when i don't know - making the site fast is first priorityMartin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.

thanks martin ... really relying on you to crack this one please .... really find the chat forum dreadful to use having to go through a click at a time.
Have decided that i cannot use it as it is so i'm just going to rely on your weekly mail to learn from ...and understand that many of the good deals will have been and gone....
but will check on the forum every now and then to see if the recent post facility returns .. if it does i'll instantly revert to probably one of your biggest "post readers" as i reckon i previously scanned through nearly every post made. !!0
