You will see every post that contains the, these, their, them or and - which is almost all posts
I don't think it is almost all posts. I've just tried that and only got 2 posts in the last 2 hours.0 -
your right - and I think there's a lot missing - wonder if the search uses other criteria than just bring back the most recent - will have to look later0

I'm so glad I'm not the only one missing the old "500 recent posts" facility!
It was the greatest feature of the chat forum for me (after the tips o'course).
I used to read 75+ posts every night and kept up to date with pretty much everything from interest rates to the uses of vinegar! :-)
Keeping up to date since the introduction of the new forum, got a bit more complicated.
Have to admit I'm a bit lazy, but nevertheless it was a great feature.0 -
yes, thats a handy function to have
i have just hacked the search page and written a function to perform this, only needs some tweaking before we can make it public...

mse dimitar .... i and many others would be so impressed..and grateful if you..or your colleagues could crack this.
daft monkey ... my sentiments exactly , it was such a good facility.
!!.... i've just come on now .. rare visit these days ... and looking down "recent posts" there's quite a few that "might" be of interest ... hovering the mouse over doesn't help as it always just shows the first post of the thread .. to then have to click through and find where/if you've seen some of the posts .. etc etc ,,.... far too time taking .. then having to click to go back to recent post list...find the next interesting one .. go through it all again. So frustrating and really timetaking.
Don't know how anyone copes with it !!.
To come on 3 or 4 times a day as i used to ... get the 500 recent posts ... and then the really clever bit ... took a few seconds to save it onto hard disk .. to then read at leisure ... brilliant !!If i wanted to click on a link or something then i could and as long as i was online the link would work and take me to it. Similarly to reply to any posts could be done easily and quickly.
I could pick up tens, even hundreds of little snippets every day .. keeping right up to date with everything ..really frustrated that i've lost such a good knowledge base.
PS .. one reason i came on today was to see comments on last nights "smart spenders" but again far too laborious to hunt out where there are posts on it .. etc .. so i'll just say here what i suspect a lot of people will say ....
rubbish programme .... the family should be locked up for stupidity .. what a way to live .. and bring up kids ... and i don't see that the programme did anything to get into the serious detail of their spending and ways to properly budget , cut costs/ better banking/credit cards / lower insurance etc etc.
It all keeps coming back to a real need this country has to teach from school age how to manage and handle money. We need martin to have a proper tv series doing a very thorough job .. one week mortgages .. next week credit cards .. etc etc ... into real nitty gritty detail to enable everyone to understand .
Same goes for needing jamie oliver to do as per "jamies dinners " .. really getting into the realities . Lets hope that programme really does make people/ councils /governments sit up and actually do something .
Jamie and Martin next for knighthoods ... for their efforts in " helping people have better lives"
rant over !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
It's not quite there yet but we have a compromise in the meantime.
Click on search, then advanced search (or go here). Scroll down to the bottom and you will see a link to get you to the last 500 active threads.
From there you can click on the arrow in the "last post" column and it will take you to the last post in that thread.
I know it's not quite what you want yet but hopefully it should keep you all going until we've worked out how to make the actual posts show up.Could you do with a Money Makeover?

andrea .. i was starting to get quite excited ...... BUT.........
in a way it's not dissimilar to the exsisting "recent posts" or "todays posts" .and again if you hover mouse over topic it shows the first thread of the post ... maybe if it showed the latest one it could be more useful .... the problem all the time is having to open a thread then find the posts since you last looked at it ... versus having all the 500 posts open ready to glance at.0 -
penmak£ im with you - i've just had a look at the function - we've a way to go yet! However as you can see we're working on it - simple as that - it isn't easy - stick with it.Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
