Not a phobia, more of a compulsion, if I see a packet of pens/pencils/crayons etc I HAVE to put them in colour order, I don't care who they belong to, I wade straight in there, I can't bear seeing them all mixed up.

My other one which is probably my worst is polystyrene! The noise of it makes me want to be sick and the feel is even worse.

I once dropped an expensive microwave as we were getting out the box as my other half had missed some and it touched my hand then dropped to the floor! luckily it wasnt a big drop and it landed on the polystyrene anyway!

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end :)

My friend has this one. We bought her the Jean Paul Gaultier perfume gift box for her, it's entirely polystyrene, she couldn't open it :rotfl:

Pregnancy, it is just not natural!! I believe it is completely rational but I am reliably told that it is phobic.

Also really don't like seeing fish swimming about. Things just should not be living in water. The thought of them doesn't make me vomit like the thought of pregnancy does though.
  • My DS has a phobia of Buttons, he has to wear a tie when it is necessary to wear a shirt so he can't see them. I know some types affect him more than others but can't remember which. He has always been like this and cannot find a reason.

I'm afraid of buttons too, although only if they aren't attached to clothing. The worst kind are the pearly white ones you get on school shirts. They make me go all hot and goose pimply, nauseous, and I sometimes burst into tears....

I've no idea where it came from, I can remember being fine with them as a child!
  • mine is baked beans as well, maybe we should set up a therapy support group and get them banned lol, The smell, the texture bleurghhh, they give me the creeps and I can't go anywhere near them, however other beans are fine, as is tomato sauce.

    BAN BAKED BEANS!!!

  • I've really enjoyed reading this thread, there are some very strange phobias out there!

My weird one is herons. All other birds are fine but herons terrify me, much to the amusement of my family and friends!

I'm also arachnophobic to the point of panic attacks but not with tarantulas, so that one is a bit weird too. I've held a tarantula quite happily before but I can't even get close enough to put a glass over any other spider.

Mirrors, especially in the bedroom. If I have been staying over somewhere that has a mirror in the bedroom I cover it!! Also open-tread stairs or stairs without hand rails, cannot walk up/down them. Clowns! And despite being able to swim I cannot stand at the edge of a swimming pool or jump in. In fact I can't stand or let the kids stand on the edge of any waterway!
  • Seaweed...the look of it makes me feel sick!, gross stuff.
Also cobwebs, spiders I'm totally cool with and can even pick them up but I can't touch the web!
