eggs if i can see them

i had salmonella poisoning once. I cant eat anything if egg in its visible form has been on it. I am a nightmare with fried rice!!

Also things in public places like cashpoint machines, the bell on the bus, handrails on stairs/escalators. Cashpoints and bus bells get used with a piece of paper or something. Handrails just get avoided at all costs

I blame the flu ad with the dude on the bus sneezing and his germs flying everywhere!

I can't walk down stairs unless I'm within reach of the handrail, my legs freeze if someone comes up the other way and steps between me and the hand rail but I'd still not call it an actual phobia as I don't change my life so I never come across stairs.

What IS an actual phobia for me though is caterpillars, they hang from the trees on my walk to the station in May and June and my husband has to drive me both ways in those months. I never eat lettuce/green leaves of any kind and if I buy a gardening magazine I have to get someone to flick through first and put stickers over any pictures of caterpillars. I actually love gardening but all my plants are in pots. I still see the odd one (and I can spot one at 20 paces) and avoid the garden for a few days even after it's been disposed of (over a 6ft wall, I'd still not let anyone kill one!)

Well if we are totting up them all.. in addition to my list on pg 2..

vomit.. by 2 my children get to the bathroom to be sick.. or they clean up thmselves.. DS3 or OH deal with cat sick.. though the baby vomitted down my cleavage and in my bra earlier and that was not so terror inducing.. it didnt contain food or smell like sick
flies.. they eat poo.. they walk on poo.. they used to be.. baby flies.. they are the most disgusting things ever.. one tried eating me earlier.. DS3 dealt with it..
Dentist.. and their drills and scrapey things.
oxygen masks.. they make me hysterical.. screaming crying Victorian hysteria. They put one near me once when I was in labour with DD2.. I had to be restrained.

I am not scared of them but they make me feel physicaly ill.. pigeons... *shudder*

Spitting is vile and makes me gag.. I am so bad I cant even spit out food that tastes vile or is gone off.. I had to swallow a strawberry sugar puff while wretching a couple of weeks ago.. they are disgusting!! I think this is linked to my cooties and saliva thing.

Oh.. ice .. I cant have in in my drink.. 90% of pub ice has faeces in.. nuff said?!

Oh my... I am crazier than I thought.

I forgot to add frogs to my list. i was once crouched down pulling out some weeds when one jumped in my face! Since then I've been terrified of them. we regularly find them in the garden and i won't touch them or let them be pointed anywhere near my face! Just the thought of them scares me.

Another more normal one is enclosed spaces. i can't even watch pot holing on the tv as it makes me hyperventilate. I used to hate it when my boys were younger and needed me to go on the soft play with them. All those tiny spaces to squeeze through and with no easy way out terrified me.

I don't think i realised how much stuff bothers me.
  • I have a phobia of polka dots

It's an odd one and I have no idea where it's come from but seeing them (even thinking about them) makes me want to heave

I literally have watery jaw right now......
  • Mine main one is fish. When I was a kid a "friend" pushed me into a bath that was filled with gold fish. It was an old pet shop and all it sold was fish, wall to wall fish tanks. I still panic thinking about it.

I also can't bring myself to touch rubber bands and matches, don't know why.

Mr De Bris reckons I have a house work phobia :)

  • My 10 year old son has a phoebia of human biology. He does not just feel sick but is violently sick. It has happened about 5 times now over the past 3 years when seeing picture and talking about blood, the skeleton, even the ear!
Can't think of an incident in his childhood that would have set it off, or tv viewing that might have caused it. Teachers want me to talk to doctors to see if it can be 'treated'.
He seems better with reality as he deals with his own nose bleeds and seen my daughter having a couple of injections.
