I fear Pregnant ladies belly buttons - urrgh the thought makes me ill.

Veins and tendons in wrists, especially when wrists are flexed so they poke out - I feel sick at the thought.

Achilles Tendons- too prominent, this comes from a film where I saw someone get theirs slashed. I think about it everytime I see one.

    I sound a bit deranged lol :rotfl::rotfl:

Ketchup and baked beans. It's not just a "i really don't like them, they make me shudder/feel sick" kind of thing, I have this genuine fear of them that I know is ridiculous. I can't share cutlery or any food equipment in case it has been "contaminated" by beans or ketchup, I can't touch or look at the tins or bottles and I am scared of breathing in the smells. If someone in my house eats baked beans I go in my bedroom and jam the egdes of the door with towels and cover my face with a scarf and stay there for at least an hour or until I need to pee, I'll spend the rest of the day with a scarf over my face and will bleach the kitchen before I use it again. On tool academy when they threw beans at the couples kissing it was like this disgusting nightmare and I got hot, dizzy, out of breath and lay down on the floor next to an open door for ages to calm down.

During university I got over a lot of irrational fears relating to food and drink that made socialising difficult. ie I only drank from glasses/cups I had cleaned and that were wet inside and out and I would drink the entire thing in one go. Now I use straws in public and rinse out disposable coffee lids with water before using them.
I am very suspicious of cutlery... I have a fork, spork and spoon that I use and I struggle to use anything else. In a restaurant I will now use their cutlery but I won't touch the cutlery with any part of my mouth but at home I will touch my special cutlery with my teeth if necessary. I have images in my head that other cutlery is infact hollow and inside it is this fluffy substance, the thicker the metal of the cutlery looks the less likely I am to stand using it. I still have to dampen the edges of glasses in restaurants with water before I drink.

I also can't cope with loud or rushing noises, don't know if this is really a phobia though. If the TV comes on and it's a bit too loud I will get an instant head ache and scream, my whole body feels awful when I hear a loud noise I just can't handle them.

marywooyeah cotton woll makes my teeth hurt too! when I was young touching or thinking about cotton wool made me compelled to rub my teeth on the ribbed neck of my school jumper- doing this until i wretched was the only way i could stop the cotton wool effect.

i feel physically sick if i see a baked bean 'outside' in my beans, i have to pick them all out as i cook them whilst gagging. i also hate the green bits attached to peas. these two things alone drove my mum insane when i was a child.

i freak out if someone breathes near my nose feel like going to suffocate. im scared of spiders, groups of people near me, barking dogs, spiders, ants and goats. my biggest phobia is dying (not nice but terrifies me). i sit with my legs up on chair and never have a hand/foot hang out of bed incase a shark gets me, yes a shark (i hate sharks). i also dont like my face under water as convinced will drown in the bath. eggs are pure evil esp if a red clotty thing is attached inside. :(

i know its a huge list but i could add lots more, already know i am 'unique' :D

my oh wont eat infront of people as has phobia of people watching him eat.
my mums scared of polystyrene and slugs.

OH is scared of stickers. It amuses me but if he sees a sticker that's come unstuck he'll properly freak out!

I have the same phobia! Anything sticky makes me heave. Post it notes and plasters are my nemisis. I have thrown up before because of it.
  • Heights, daddy long legs and earrwigs eurgh *shudder*

My daughter has a serious phobia about vomit. If anyone is sick, looks as though they will be or hears someone tell someone else they look ill, she is out of the room quicker than anything. If someone is sick in front of her, she becomes hysterical. It is actually noted at school that if someone is ill it will also make her ill.

I have emetophobia. I cannot be sick myself and am always on the lookout for other people being sick. I am a nightmare to take out clubbing/to the pub etc because towards the end of the evening I cannot settle and have fun in case someone is sick around me!! I was last sick when I was 14 (30 years ago!!) and that was down the side of a pub. I am training to be a nurse so it will be interesting when I come across it in practice!!

I cannot stand odd numbers. Volume controls have to be on even numbers. I have to take an even number of steps, starting with the left foot. I eat in even numbers (both quantity and amount of chews) and equal amounts on both left and right side of my mouth. Sweets have to be the same colour in each "set". If there is an odd number left, or odd colours, I bite them in half - that counts as being even. Most of the time no-one would notice I am doing it because it is all done in my mind. The volume control thing is annoying when it isn't my car though!!!

I count a lot of things - steps, stairs, chews, cloth wipes when cleaning. My eldest DD is the same, even though I have never done it in front of her or told her about it. I suppose the last bits are not really phobias but quirks!!

I find the veins and tendons in the backs of hands worse, can't stand to see them!
  • Ketchup, pickle, any sort of vinegary sauce. Even vinegar - love it on my chips but DH has to put it on for me as I can't touch the bottle its in. I really shudder if I have to go down the ketchup aisle in the supermarket!
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • I have 2 strange ones

1 apples, the texture of apple in my mouth makes me want to vomit, I'm totally fine with cooked apple, it's just the whole fruit.

2 Loud noises to the extent I have now been diagnosed with PTSD from the noise of the impact from 3 car accidents so have to have many intense therapy sessions
as I can't get in the car now and wont go out of the house, which is becoming another phobia  :embarasse
Wow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p
