TESCO called a customer a "Thief"

? They were the ones who originally told me lies and passed me on to Nathan..
"stupid" covers the idiotic excuses for why the policy wouldn't work. i.e its expired.
"old" Ok I apologise for this one. Thats the anger
And we all say mean things when we're annoyed I suppose. I'm just very shocked at the letter from Andy.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Hey,
Just posted on Misprice discussion thread but in case you miss it:-
Apparently:-
“Jane Horrocks lives with her two children and partner in a house in north London. She has jokingly nicknamed the house "Tesco Towers" in recognition that it was mostly paid for by her appearances in the British television advertisements for the supermarket chain.”
http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/arts/highlights/001027_horrocks.shtml
Wonder if she knows that the refund policy she was confidently promoting gives Tesco the excuse to accuse its customers of deceit when they dare to complain that they have been overcharged or to give silly excuses that the policy does not include when you have been overcharged due to reasons x, y or z! Don’t think these would stand in Court when no such disclaimers are included in the policy quote!
Also:-
“Prunella Scales is thought to have earned more than £1million from her role in Tesco's advertising campaign as the elderly bargain hunter Dotty Turnbull. She helped Tesco become Britain's biggest supermarket chain” …………….. but does she know that customers trusting in the advertised policy are being slandered and banned and called thieves as the result of expecting the refund policy to be applied without discrimination to themselves in the event of a mere Joe Bloggs being overcharged?
Really must ask her for a comment!!!
LoLMr. T - Stop overcharging your customers.
Bring back consumer confidence.
BRING BACK DOTTY TURNBULL

Sent a PM to you. (I'm also a 19 year old male who has had a rather similar experience from a !!!!! of a manager.
When someone challenges me, they go down, and so I won.
I basically said I wasn't moving from the counter until she gave me the refund, and then when she tried to serve the person behind me, I moved in the way so they couldn't talk properly. She caved and gave me my RnR. !!!!!.0 -
The wife my store works in, one of the staff had a complaint made against them for rudeness against the customer, this time the manager kept it "in-house". However only a few weeks later the same staff member got another complaint about their attitude, this customer sent a letter to the store manager and their head office.
Head Office spoke direct with the manager and that staff member has been sacked.
If you want to keep pushing it, but the fact that the store has said they have addressed the matter and the staff member has recieved further training, unfortunately closes the matter on their side.0 -
MK, maybe now is the time to request info on everything Tesco hold about you, under the Data Protection Act? That will annoy them and cost them a lot more in time and money than the tenner you would have to outlay in order to get it.
taxiphil is the expert on this IMHO, have you tried pm-ing him.....or ask generally for opinions on the Misprices Discussion thread as I'm sure most of the posters there (like me!) have not seen your thread yet?
BTW I know how you feel and they treated you terribly. I had a slightly embarrassing 'raised profile' experience at the CS desk in Tesco 6 weeks ago...nothing like as bad as yours....but I haven't been back to that store since! Their rudeness makes you feel so bad when you are just a customer who's been overcharged for goodness sake. But not bad enough to stop me finding I have been overcharged at other stores, mind....;)PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks coupon-mad. Not sure about who taxiphil is but will look him up in a bit!
As I said was thinking of one last letter to Terry asking how his behaviour was appropriate and then as you say requesting information under the DPA?
Need detailed info on what to do though heh thx[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

MercilessKiller wrote:Hey there.
Recently had an incident at Tesco while trying to use the Misprice Policy. I believe it should be posted here as it was NOT to do with the misprice thread on MSE and actually a seperate ordeal. I was using it due to a misprice I saw on my receipt.
Originally I was told the policy had expired, then I was told by paying i accepted the higher price, then I was told multiple labels were out so the higher one would count etc etc..
Either way after arguing with the Deputy Manager he accused me of being a con artist, scammer and a thief. He told me I'd done itbefore on a tv for example, though I have NEVER EVER bought a tv in my life from tesco's so I couldn't believe it when he said that.
Either way it wasn't a lot so I took a full refund in anger of the situation. The deputy manager then told me this proved his theory I'm a thief! Couldn't believe it!
I wrote to head office and got a reply today saying basically "Sorry we'll tell the store manager".
Should I leave it there or take it further? I feel its blatent age discrimination as I'm 19.. If i was a 34 year old woman for example I doubt I would have been called a thief etc etc...
Thanks for any help
Hi
In total sympathy, with you. I called in Tescos, Goole last night with my 2 young kids, tried to use vouchers from GMTV via website, did a shop and picked up various items some that I had vouchers for, at till asst refused coupons saying they were copied! Went to customer services, spoke Asst Manager who said she did not know about the vouchers, "She was too busy to watch morning tv" She reluctantly agreed to look into this. I felt very intimidated as they clearly did not believe me, thinking I had made them up.
Has anyone had similar experiences?0 -

Definitely.
The Stafford Post love to post stories about people complaining about things.
NOT that I think you are complaining uncessarily.
I think the way you were treated is totally out of order.
I just think it's something the paper would be interested in hearing about.
Am a student in Stafford myself and am wary of querying a misprice now after reading about your experience.
IIRC the 'R&R' sign is pretty large and visible at the CS desk too!0 -
I have had personal experience of poor treatment by tesco scum so I just took my business elsewhere and they have lost out on thousands of pounds of my money over the last few years.I drive past two of their stores to do my shopping in ASDA where i have been treated well0

Just a personal opinion about known 'difficult' Tesco staff, if you sence a heated discussion will develop. Make sure you 'accidently' switch your mobile phone on record, while you are holding it.Quotes in context only please.0
