Even if MK was a regular r&r and went with the specific intention of just getting the one item for free, I don't see how that makes any difference. It doesn't make him a thief and it certainly doesn't give the manager the right to call him a thief.

If he claims that you are on CCTV 'scamming', ask for a copy of the relevant portions of the tape. I believe that under Data Protection legislation you are entitled to it.

I will be investigating this further depending on the reply I get. I need to take a timeout as anoher person mentioned somnething true and that's how I should be concentrating on my studies!

@ MK, welcome to Stafford, friendly bunch aren't we!!!

Never had the misfortune to speak to the Assistant Manager, but if ever I do, i'll be sure to give him a hard time for you...

I haven't had an R&R recently, but know that the Stafford CS can be right sour faced cows!!! They will try anything to fob you off, every time I tell my GF to get an R&R (i.e. i'm not with her and she gets overcharged) she always gets fobbed off....

I agree with what you say though, if i'm there after work in my suit then they refund no questions, but if I go at the weekend in dirty jeans and t-shirt (cos i'm doing DIY) and my hair is a mess, they will look me up and down like i'm a thief....

Hey :) We've spoken before about Stafford due to Univeristy! Either way Hi again!

Thanks for the backing. I've never seen such blatant discrimination within a store. The way they talk to people is disgraceful. Theres a massive class difference (in THEIR point of view) from what I've seen and thats the posh rich well dressed type class and then the "scruffs".. And once they've judged they'll treat you how they want

Anyway will see what this director says!

Certainly not age discrimination, MK! Look what happened in my local Tesco...

    Aha!!

You didn't say you were unshaven, before.

Puts a different light on it.

Ah now, never judge a book by its cover, my father taught us all this years ago. My brother brought home a friend of his back in the 70's and this guy had hair like you've never seen in your life before, today its more the norm and his clothes were really loud hippyish, but he was the most polite and well mannered friend my brother had, he was a lovely guy who very sadly did at 42 from cancer. being unshaven means nothing today, it probably did back in the 80's. The OP may be a student who doesn't always bother to shave but it doesn't mean he couldn't be a very rich student to hates shaving and probably having his hair cut. :D

    MK.
I would be very concerned about being accused a thief and would want to see every scrap of evidence thay have for making the accusation. Perhaps they have mixed you up with someone else, or have simply taken a dislike to you and therefore you can accuse them of slander. And I would follow that up - you are young and you DON'T want your name blackened.

Either way you deserve at the very least an apology, written. If this has been said, sorry, I've not read all the posts.

I'm not that clued up on this r&r thing, (someone explain to me??) but if you are taking advantage of THEIR policy, how does that make it theft?

To go off topic, but to show how useless Tesco can be, in mine the other night they were offering quiches at £1.39 in their reduced bit. The fresh quiches were actually on sale at 2 for £2! :rotfl:
