If the refund was carried out at the same till as the purchase, and by the same member of staff, that should identify her/him by a reference number on the receipt.

Was done by a different member of staff. The argument was in front of customer service while 3 regulars were on duty who I remember visually.

I never thought for one moment that Mr Leahy would deal with MK's complaint. However, having worked in HO's myself (for two major retail organisations) I know that letters to 'the top' usually get the right people dealing with them from the start. Tesco may do things differently though.

All I'm hoping is that he sees it.. says "yup this is serious" and gets someone more important than a customer service rep to deal with it.. type thing...

I have nothing to lose (except the £1 postage) by sending it.

The point which Tesco appear to be missing is that this has all come about due to THEIR error!

    Good luck!

By all means vent your anger on paper to Terry leahy or the cleaner, but read, filed and closed by an admin clerk along with thousands of others, and then realise nothing will happen, you will, as a previous reply said get a bland letter from the store manager denying your version of events.

Other staff members who value their jobs will not go out on a limb to uphold the allegations of a scruffy unshaven student or the like ; ) your words, so live with it, shop elsewhere and welcome to the University of Life :D

A soap box speach from an individual is not going to have the slightest sway on a faceless multi billion pound organisation. The papers unless it is a local rag, or free paper with nothing worth reading, will not be interested or if they are, it wil be tomorrows chip wrappings, so move on and deal with it or it will take over too much of your valuable time which you should be spending studying

Clearly the person on CCTV that the deputy manager has mistakenely identitified is not you.Allowing your stubble to grow has put you in deep water.Other staff around the deputy manager would have also been kin to the scene.Something I am sure they work in training.
They now may remember your next visit.Got a wig?Glasses maybe?

If you had asked about a razor price it may have further reminded 'him' that on the day you also had a stubble.Or so the CCTV is telling him.

The deputy manager has probably had many a day when he thinks people are trying it on and thieving from the shop, however with being open about his
feelings, he now puts himself in it,if he has to deal with a geniune customer.

I guess at best Tesco will ask he gets retrained in restraining his views.Hopefully they will also record this on his record. These instances may well affect his future promotion.
    Good luck with your complaint.

You have nothing to loose, I say go for it.
Me and my husband had something very similar in a large extra store. I knew the whole tesco policy on R+R so I purchased some meat and took it to customer services for a refund.
The manager appeared and said that we had only entered the store to de-fraud Tesco. (We had infact spent well over £100 on our weekly shopping). The manager argued with us for sometime and a crowd gathered, including security guards etc. The manager said that we were barred from the store and should we return again we would be removed.
The manager was very intimidating and came face to face with my husband. The whole time we kept cool and insisted on a refund.
To cut a long story short I got a refund then wrote to Sir Terry to complain about the manager's behaviour.
The result was £20 of vouchers and an apology from him and the store manager. Also a letter explaining that we weren't barred from the store and that the manager would be dealt with.

I would have no hesitation in complaining again. Good luck with yours

MK yesterday on another thread you said it was your g/f that was called the thief, or is this another incident and you are both unfortunate enough to be called thiefs

seeing as you were a regular on the r & r threads and your mate rings you with missprices could it be that you tried your luck and you were caught out ;)

maybe call tesco and say that it was wrong for them to have called you a thief, but admit you were trying to get something for nothing and was busted :p
