Post edited because the OP is starting to irritate me too much and is now on my ignore list :p

I'll just keep enjoying the different OS (WebOS, Android and WinMo) I've got on my various gadgets.
Now free from the incompetence of vodafail

I have to say the OP is a bit of an over-reaction, just because ICS isn't compatible with the Nexus doesn't mean there isn't any support or wont be any maintenance upgrades.

Buying an Android device is often a gamble as far as how long it will be supported, or whether it'll receive any updates at all. Android Gingerbread was announced on 15th November 2010 and amazingly there are still devices that haven't been updated yet. I don't know why they're so slow at releasing updates but it must be very frustrating when you own a device on the 'update pending' list.

This the problem with android phones
2010 model nexs one can't get the os update. The newer apps and update may not work with the device. This was £500 phone last year. If some one need android phone may pick this one for around £100

I hope windows phone don't go the same and release the updates for 3 to 4 years.
Worth keeping this in mind if you are thinking of buying new nexus or android phone. May only get the update to new os version for a year.
It seem like google is trying to increase the sell and make more money by forcing people to upgrade their phones quicker than others. Not many companies stop updates in around years time.

Not good news for android or nexus one users, who have supported google to get into the mobile phone market. Hate or love at least with iphone you get the updates for few years not just one. Still you can update 3GS.

Yes that is unfortunate that the hardware is not powerful enough to support the upgrade. When google do an upgrade, they do a substantial one. Not use the same thing since the beginning, and purchase a few jailbreak apps and integrate them into their os and call it a revolution.

On top of that android is an open source os so it won't take long for a developer to make it work on nexus one.

And hey, at least they can't get blamed for holding it wrong.

Again arguing something that wasn't written. I never said there where zero manufacturing costs. I said the research and development has already been done for this product via other projects, so it will not cost them any more, and the capital raised from the sales of a recycled product will go towards the research and development of the latest innovation.

What is the point in you posting if you cannot keep your arguments in context.

and to pick you up on your last point, do companies always release products that were not the same as the last one. I have not seen another mobile company with a 2010 model, that looks the same as its 2011 model, only apple have done this.

I have seen current generations replicated, for example N9 and Lumia 800, which stands to sense , the N9 is limited sale, and they need to capitalise on the design (this year).

I doubt that the R&D bill for the 4S is nothing because Apple would have had the challenge of fitting different and more powerful parts inside a very small chassis. And why does it matter if the 4S looks the same externally? It's obviously a very popular design so why change it for the sake of changing it?

It seems so far that Apple are following the same 'tick, tock' trend as Intel; 3G - 3GS, 4 - 4S. We should see a radically new iPhone in 2012.

So which one is correct. If hardware is not powerful enough than developer cant also make it to work otherwise why cant google release the proper update for it, rather than let developer / hackers to come up with the update. Your point dont make sense one point says the hardware is not powerful enough and the next point say hacker will be able to run the os in which case the hardware is powerful enough.

If I have paid £500 for the phone last year 2010 and now I cant update to os ver 4.00 with a official update I would be very sad. More so if hackes and developer can port the os. The only reason I can think of is google is forcing people to change the phone to make more money and sell more phones for its share holders. Nexus one users are the ones who have helped google to come into the mobile phone market.

Never mind paying £500 and not being able to update the os, how about paying £500 for a phone where the battery only lasts 4 hours. (in standby)

I myself am having the battery drain issue on the iphone 4s and am taking it back to the shop tomorrow.
