    Don't tell thegoodman that

It does seem though that the iphone may become a victim of it's own success, just like Nokia had, at one time phones were just phones, then they were alarm clocks, radios, cameras , calculators games machines, pda's etc.
Then came the iphone which was very handy for the growing trend of people that liked to listen to their music whilst commuting but missing calls, this proved popular and the iphone was born. Followed by many of the devices we see today.

I had many touchscreen Windows Mobile screens - the only thing apple brought to the market was good responsive glass screen & the others followed suit after for years thinking consumers would not buy such with cost and the possibilty of breaking such glass - my last was HTC Touch 3G before 3GS and i must prefer Touch 3G using Windows Mobile over iOS, even if Windows Mobile is crap in comparison to WP7 !

My last Nokia was N95 and to be honest nothing since was really a upgrade with Nokia, kind of like i4 & 4s "where do we go now ?" seems to be haunting Apple after Nokia, I have waited 15+ years for a Nokia Windows but I'm happy as larry with Mozart & I will not beta test Nokia's again.

The new Nokia Windows Phone 7 looks great though !

WP7 marketshare will go through the roof in next 12 months with all these 2 year contracts from 3GS ending & WP7 and WP8 OS launch next year, and next year aint far off ;)

The iPhone 4s is kind of a 2 finger salute to the consumers. Apple as a company know that they could bring out a phone made of butter and still sell 1 million on the first day.

The 4s is a Frankenstein phone made with left over research and development from previous products, all rolled together to be the next best thing. Its actually a genius way of recovering the spending for the research and development for the iPhone 5 whenever that will be released, without actually spending any more on it, and still having a product on the market making money.

If i was a shareholder, I'd be laughing all the way to the bank. But as someone who just wants a decent mobile, its a case of been there done that.

It seems that there are quite a few people out there who do consider the 4S a decent mobile. If you don't, don't buy it.

This is not true at all. This is based on as soon as new iPhone come out everyone should upgrade. Most people can't change the phone for two years. People upgrading from 3G or 3GS will find 4s very good product.

Just because samsung or htc release a new model do you upgrade?
If you did you will be changing the phone every 3 or 4 months.

iPhone 4s is similar to 4 but a lot of samsung and htc phones have minor differences between each model. A lot of iPhone users may not upgrade either because can't or wait for the next release.

So if your quote is true it applies to all manufactures not just apple.

It is fair to say , at present the technology has reached a knee point, what more could they put on any handset?
For me I cannot imagine what could go onto a handset, but with the technology and knowledge, they could start to concentrate on handsets being efficient with power and data consumption, handsets used to run for a week or two without requiring a recharge, for many it is a daily ritual now.

That's rubbish. The technology never stop. The phones still have a long way to go. If people knew what is needed in a phone than it would have happen by now. Better camera, better screen, more integrate with stuff in the house, payment by phone to become more common, faster CPU so apps can run better, more storage memory and a lot of stuff that I have not thought of yet.
I am sure others will fill in.
The phones will become more and more personal devices.

I didn't mention anywhere in my post about the benefits of upgrading from a 3gs.

I stated that the phone is made from left over parts of other projects, which it is, and that it cost them barely nothing to put it together, which it didn't. and its sold at a premium, which will go towards paying off the research and development of future projects.

I do not disagree that moving from a 3gs to a 4gs is a good investment, but if your going to argue, at least stick to the facts of the post your arguing with.
