It is fair to say , at present the technology has reached a knee point, what more could they put on any handset?
For me I cannot imagine what could go onto a handset, but with the technology and knowledge, they could start to concentrate on handsets being efficient with power and data consumption, handsets used to run for a week or two without requiring a recharge, for many it is a daily ritual now.

That's rubbish. The technology never stop. The phones still have a long way to go. If people knew what is needed in a phone than it would have happen by now. Better camera, better screen, more integrate with stuff in the house, payment by phone to become more common, faster CPU so apps can run better, more storage memory and a lot of stuff that I have not thought of yet.
I am sure others will fill in.
The phones will become more and more personal devices.

How is it rubbish? You seem to not accept facts of what is the staus quo, name one app that would benefit from a faster processor? Better cameras yes , my satio has a 12mp camera with proper flash and good lens, as does the Nokia N8, but cameras in phones seem to have gone backwards, more storage? Even with my Satio running 128mb of memory I used about 100mb and some of that is the OS, the phones are already personal devices and as mentioned they have reached a kneepoint, I have had my NCF debit card for over a year and not had opportunity to use that facility once yet, screens are as great as they need be my Ray and certainley the iphone retina have proven that.

I didn't mention anywhere in my post about the benefits of upgrading from a 3gs.

I stated that the phone is made from left over parts of other projects, which it is, and that it cost them barely nothing to put it together, which it didn't. and its sold at a premium, which will go towards paying off the research and development of future projects.

I do not disagree that moving from a 3gs to a 4gs is a good investment, but if your going to argue, at least stick to the facts of the post your arguing with.
    Let's stick to the facts
What is the cost to put it together?
Do you think it is costing them nothing to manufacture?
If you think it is zero cost try searching cost to manufacture iPhone 4s on google.

How do other companies pay for research & development?
According to you not via sales, so what is the other way to cover cost?

Do other manufactures use similar parts such as same screen?

Do other manufactures always release the product which is completely different to last one?

By the way 12 mega pix is nothing it all depend on the size of the optic to get good photos. You will get better photos from 8mp camera if it is using better optic. So your point is not true. You may have got the wrong phone to use the camera thinking 12mp will get you better photos because it want.

You may not need the storage, many others do for photos, music, video, games etc.

You may not play games others do so faster CPU will help many others.

May others would be interested in better bigger screen, you may not be.

Many others would be interested in more integrate with house hold products, you might not be.

Why are you telling us what we already know, the best handset phones at the moment are the Satio and the Nokia n8, not just for the megapixel but for the lens and flash.

What is the f number for satio and n8, lower the number better the optic let more light in. For example iPhone 4s is f2.4. Any thing lower is good.

What is the delay from switch on to first shot?
Again lower the number more useful the camera is.

What is the delay between the shots?
Again, lower the number is good. Some phone cameras can take 2-3 sec.

What is the delay from pressing the button to take the photo to photo taken?
If this number is too high than camera no goog, by the time phone take the photo subject would have moved.

Have you looked at the points above if you have let us have the numbers or are you just saying camera is better because you like the two products.

Again arguing something that wasn't written. I never said there where zero manufacturing costs. I said the research and development has already been done for this product via other projects, so it will not cost them any more, and the capital raised from the sales of a recycled product will go towards the research and development of the latest innovation.

What is the point in you posting if you cannot keep your arguments in context.

and to pick you up on your last point, do companies always release products that were not the same as the last one. I have not seen another mobile company with a 2010 model, that looks the same as its 2011 model, only apple have done this.

I have seen current generations replicated, for example N9 and Lumia 800, which stands to sense , the N9 is limited sale, and they need to capitalise on the design (this year).

He is a troll. Only a troll can say that iP camera is better (or even the same) than (as) a the best cameras of SE or Nokia phones.

Well i don't know what they are but they should be a politician, arguing points with something completely different and irrelevant.

I have not used a SE or Nokia camera, and in all fairness the 4s camera is quite good, in comparison to previous iphone devices. Best $20 they spent improving the device. Shame they didn't invest any money improving the battery performance.

This the problem with android phones
2010 model nexs one can't get the os update. The newer apps and update may not work with the device. This was £500 phone last year. If some one need android phone may pick this one for around £100

I hope windows phone don't go the same and release the updates for 3 to 4 years.
Worth keeping this in mind if you are thinking of buying new nexus or android phone. May only get the update to new os version for a year.
It seem like google is trying to increase the sell and make more money by forcing people to upgrade their phones quicker than others. Not many companies stop updates in around years time.

Not good news for android or nexus one users, who have supported google to get into the mobile phone market. Hate or love at least with iphone you get the updates for few years not just one. Still you can update 3GS.

I have read that google is not going to release the update to os version 4 for nexus one phone.
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2395299,00.asp#fbid=Cha744aIsyN

This is sad news for people who have helped google to get into the mobile Market and also paid £500 for the phone. The nexus one was only released last year 2010. This seem like google is more interested in forcing people to upgrade so it can sell more phones and make more money. Feel sorry for people who have spend a lot of money and can't update the 2010 phone.

It is worth keeping in mind if you are thinking of buying new nexus or android phone. The phone may only be supported for a year.

It look like that android is moving more and more toward hacks, the hacker may find a way to update the os to ver 4. However I don't think most people will know how to or go hacking way to get the os ver 4. I am sure some will.

Like it or hate it at least apple support the products with updates for 3-4 years. You can still update the 3GS.
