if none of the siblings have been invited then there's no need to take it personally, but I can see why you'd like to be at your sister's wedding.

Why are you having a strop? You asked for peoples opinions and you got them. Just because people have a different opinion to you, doesn't warrant stamping your feet.
  • OP i can see why you want to be at your sisters wedding but you have gone totally the wrong way about it which is now the main problem

this is the problem actually with putting things on the internet as others can't get the tones of the email. If my sister is happy with her day like that then so I am and I should suck it up and be ok with it. My anger was coming out last night because it was the shock and obviously i have put all the details on re- siblings being around etc but I was actually saying i was being selfish because I was, so no, i'm not having a strop

Ok, I understand, but with the exclamation marks it did sound like it. :)

But perhaps your sister hasn't told you yet because she wants a very low key wedding with just the parents there and if she told you, she might feel obligated to invite you, which would then mean that she'd have to invite the other siblings too.

Seriously, what the h*ll is the matter with people on this site recently?

Your Sister hasn't invited you to her wedding, I'd be bl**dy furious if it was my own Sister and your Daughters Aunt. Friends come and go, family is there for life. Your Sister is a class 1 moron. I'd personally let her know how disappointed you are.

If your sister had invited lots of people and left you out I could understand you being so upset, but as she is only inviting 4 people(the parents) I think you should not feel put out.

I can totally understand someone doing this and IMO you are being unfair to your sister.

Two couples I know went one step further and didn't even invite parents, just brought one friend each for witnesses or had strangers witness. They did it because they're quiet, private people with drama-heavy families, and they honestly felt that there would be less potential for screaming rows if they said "hey, we got married last week" than in all the palaver of planning and carrying out a traditionally-sized wedding. Of course it was also massively cheaper.

I hope the OP enjoyed her more traditional wedding, but as she's been griping about how much it cost to invite people she doesn't like, I can't help wondering if she feels a tiny bit jealous that her sister had the guts to buck convention.
