  • Hi, please can you help.

I have recently requested & recieved details of all the charges applied to my MBNA (Virgin Money Card) since the a/c has been open.

Am I to request a full refund of ALL the charges applied or do I only request the difference between the amount charged & the new £12 limit. Ie they have charged me £25 back in 2003, therefore I claim back only £13 or do I go for the full £25?

    Thanks

There is no £12 'limit' as such. It was a recommended maximum figure based on the OFT investigation into Credit Card charges.

You claim for the whole amount and let MBNA argue their actual costs in court if they wish.
  • The whole amount it is then.
    Your a star! Thank you

    Hi,
I sent a request for my statements to Virgin cc (MBNA).
Today I received a letter with a list of overlimit fees. £50 worth!!

Anyway, I'm going to send the next letter to them, but do I send it to the original address or the address that is at the top of the letter they've just sent me?
  • Hi
Although my account was a Virgin Credit Card, the 1st letter I sent was to MBNA at PO Box address at Bolton. This morning I got a full list of charges from the Assistant Vice President at "Abbey" (??) - so it is to them that I am sending my second letter asking for a full refund.

Not sure if this helps, but I would say send your 2nd letter to the address you rec'd the reply. Hopefully it will cut down on time.

I have had a Sonycard for several years and have requested a list of all charges from MBNA. They have sent me statements for the last 6 years, including when the card was managed by Bank of Scotland.

From what I can see MBNA took over in oct/nov 2003, but I can't be certain as there is no name or logo on the statements after that date.

Should I attempt to claim ALL charges back from MBNA, including when it was held by BoS???

If anyone has sucessfully claimed with this type of card I would appreciate any advice.

    Oskarr.

I'm guessing the answer is try claiming all charges and they will soon tell you if they won't refund the earlier charges.

Yes, sent it to that address, no response.

    Be prepared for Information Commissioner!!!

PS. Dont listen to what they say on the phone, get it in writing.

Just reading eveyones posts about not getting a response, sometimes letters go missing in the post, or do they? MBNA could be ignoring it on purpose, and will claim that they never have received such letter. It's costs 68p to send a letter recorded, which means that someone has to sign for it! There is your proof that they have received your letter.

I've just sent my claim off this morning to MBNA for £800 (approx) inc interest!! Let's get these suckers!!! It's our money and we want it back!!!
  • Just read all of this thread so I thought I'd put in my two pennyworth.
I have kept all my MBNA and other credit card and bank statements from the last six years so I skipped the first letter. I sent the second letter on 7th February claiming £991 plus interest. Received a standard reply saying that they would investigate and would reply by 7th March. 21st February I sent the fourth (template) letter and on 7thMarch received a long rambling blah blah letter ending with a 'goodwill offer' of £480 (just over a third of what I'm claiming. 9th March sent them a seven day notice of court proceedings letter if payment not arrived by 19th March. Today I received the £480 which I will acknowledge without prejudice and restate my demand for the rest. Here's hoping it works.
This is my first in a string of six which hopefully will recoup a total of £7262.09! After a payment to this site for the invaluable advice, help and encouragement the rest will go towards my daughter's wedding. I'll let you know how it goes.

I requested my statements 13/2 and today received a letter with a list of my charges, my £10 cheque returned and a goodwill offer of £360! I checked the list of charges and found they owe me £906. If I send letter accepting £360 as partial payment, do I then start MCOL or send lba? Also, do I have to send letter or is there a phone no I can call?
