MBNA credit cards (merged)

Hi
I have not heard a thing from Virgin One since I sent the first letter two weeks ago tomorrow. I rang them on Friday and they said that they would call me by Monday at the latest to discuss...still no phone call today.
Therefore 2nd letter going to be posted tomorrow. Only trying to claim £167 so pittance to them.
Anyone else had any luck with Virgin?
Thanks0 -
I can't help you here, but similarly, I'd like to claim against MBNA.
I've had 4 MBNA cards(Abbey, Alliance & Leicester, Virgin & a University affiliated one) in total, all of which have been paid off, but how do I go about reclaiming any charges there on?
What are the addresses I need to write to to claim the money back?
And if anyone has any experience with fighting MBNA for their charges, have you fought the reduced £12 charges as well?
Can I list all my account numbers on the request for charges and send one solitary cheque for £10? Or do i have to send out £40?
Also, who do I send my reclaim letter to, as if this were a bank account, i'd send it to my own branch.0 -
Hi Naitch 1980,
From my previous post you'll see I've been trying to get copy statements. Below the address the nice man on the phone gave me - he was nice then but when they see how much I want to claim I don't think they'll be quite so accomodating!
FAO: Compliance Manager, MBNA Europe Bank, PO Box 1004, Chester Business Park, Chester, CH4 9WW.
He said you need to request a breakdown of fees and charges.
Just to let you all know my situation - my credit limit with them was £1,500. I paid them off in full in Aug 05 to the tune of £2,054.45. I've worked out that over the last 2 years alone they charged me £1,445 in fees...... lets see - I think I wouldn't have been in the state I was if they hadn't kept slapping charges onto my account and I probably could've paid this off a long, long time ago.
Good luck to everyone out there, S0 -
I have an Abbey MBNA card and they were really easy to get the charges back from. I first asked for all my statements which took a few months to arrive but once I'd sent the first letter from here they refunded everything immediately.
Much easier to deal with than when I tried to get my Abbey current account charges refunded ( I have also got those now but it took about 5 months longer and eventually going through the Financial Ombudsman)If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun:cool:
Don't mess with me sucker!!!

hi
My mum has an old MBNA credit card account and has had numerous late payment charges but she seems to think they used to be more than the £13 charge that was applied to her account this last month.
Is the £13 charge still classed as being an unfair bank charge? if they have reduced the charging amounts to coinside with the amount of people claiming charges back is it still reclaimable?
many thanks0 -
Hello.
Require some advice please.
MBNA have agreed to refund part of my charges. I have said I will accept this as partial repayment and continue with further action if I do not receive the full amount of charges.
My account is closed with MBNA and the debt is now legally owned by a different company.
MBNA however insist on paying the partial refund direct to the other company.
How can I address this issue and prevent them from doing so? Do you think a simple letter stating my terms will be sufficient?0 -
Hi ,
could you explain why the debt is owned by another company ?0 -
Good luck everyone with MBNA
ive just been refunded £109 on a claim of £110!!!

Hi can anyone advise me on whether I can claim charges back from an MBNA credit card that has been stopped. I closed the account about a year ago but know there would be alot of charges on it !!! The only thing is I can't find any paper work with any account numbers on it .....would I still be intitled to claim and if so what details would i have to provide ?????? thank you !!!0
