MBNA credit cards (merged)

Start your claim with all the late payment fees no matter what amount you have been charged. MBNA may well come back and make an offer less the £12 fees and it is then up to you if you carry on to claim the full amount or accept their offer.0

wednesday1867 wrote:My question regarding MBNA is, i am now on a deby management plan, have been for a year. One of my creditors is the MBNA, i know i have paid them quite a lot in charges, while being with them, for a number of months i was getting charged every month for something or other. Thing is tho, if i were to start claiming my charges back are they likely or can they even turn round, say our agreement of said payment each month is no good and that they want full payment in one go?
Thanks for any help.
Hi I am currently on a repayment plan with MBNA...they have stopped charging me interest. I have gone ahead reclaiming my charges, and have yesterday issued the first letter having added up my charges. The refund...if I get it, wont completely clear the balance but am hoping they will let me continue on the current plan. Either way I thought it better to start the process. If they ask for the balance back...I will argue it then. Cant give what I dont have!! Fingers crossed0 -
I have finally got my reply from MBNA, but not before contacting their customer advocate office and speaking to someone who seemed to get things going. If it helps, the number is 01244 672071. It helped me, it might be a good idea for anyone having difficulties with them not responding within the timescales to give them a call also.Bank charge Victories 07:MBNA:£205.77.Natwest Credit Card:£250.A&L Bank:£549.68.First Direct:£1183.50.Natwest:£112.33+£200 compo.Marbles CC:£298.Providian CC:£181.Capitol One CC:£388.46.PPI requests:A&L credit card/First Direct loan: At Court stage.Marbles CC:£213.02 refunded.GE Money:£562.34 refunded.First Direct credit card:£747.83 refunded.0

I'll share my MBNA story...
I've been paying off my MBNA White Room card for over a year now (interest is frozen). In January, my finances took a hit and I needed to lower my payments. I called MBNA and spoke to a very nice man who dropped my payments by £11 a month. We then happened to get talking about how well I was doing with paying the card off. I had only had one late payment (which I had paid the following day) after HSBC had stopped a direct debit when I had literally gone overdrawn by a few pennies. The man asked if they had charged me and I said yes and he ordered me to claim back all the money from HSBC. He gave me all of the websites for claiming it back. As it happened, I was already about 3 weeks into my claim against HSBC but I thought it was refreshing for someone who works for these financial institutions to be straight with you.
Anyway... I got all my money (plus interest) back from HSBC so I decided to have a go at all of my credit card companies. I seem to be in the minority in that I keep all of my statements neatly filed for a minimum of seven years so I sent off my initial letter to MBNA requesting the charges back without having to wait for them to provide the info for me. They responded within 2 weeks with the standard we'll look into it letter. I didn't bother chasing it up as I have other things to do. Their letter said they would respond by February 28th. By March 2nd, I had heard nothing so I sent the second letter. March 3rd, I received a full and final settlement which included interest. They included a very neat list of all of my charges for me and a very long letter explaining how their charges were perfectly justifiable. They have said that if I do not accept their new terms concerning charges that will be out in June, they will be shutting my account. I wont be claiming again so that's fine.
All in all, I've had a very positive experience with MBNA. Unlike Barclays who I have taken to court for 25 quid... Doubt me, would they...With all of my dietary restrictions, I'm left with lipstick and water0 -
I sent a letter to MBNA asking for a full list of charges .They recieved my letter on 26th january . I sent another letter to them ,which they recieved on 2nd march , reminding them of their obligation to reply within the 40 day timescale . Its now been 38 days and ive heard nothing from them . Ive telephoned their customer advocate line an hour ago . A very polite lady took my details and told me someone would look into it and ring me back today .
I'll let you all know what happens
by the way the customer advocate number is 01244 6720710 -

I finally got a list of all charges over the last 6 years (not the actual statements). It took them 50 days in total but they returned my cheque too, saying that they did not treat my request as a full SAR and if the info they supplied was not sufficient, to reapply encloding a cheque.
I did actually keep around a years worth of statements, and the charges they have listed do match what is shown on my statements, so I'll accept their list of charges and send off my claim letter for £930.0
