These people have stated that they are not able to answer letters as "they expect customers to call them ". I'm trying to claim for a friend but are they allowed to disregard letters? What if you're deaf for example???
Ignore that, always keep everything in writing, if they can't be bothered to reply that's their problem

    Hi,

I took the first step in getting a list of charges they have made to my account and the figures are in:

    £200 of charges in 2005 and £12 in 2007

I worked out the difference between what is classed as fair and what they charged me at £104. With interest added I work it out at £112.32

I have shifted the balance onto another card so it's empty but is it worth putting this claim in?

Now I've cleared the balance I'm hoping they might now offer me a good balance transfer deal so I can do my credit card shuffle. Would putting a claim in hinder this even though I think I'm being fair by not asking for the full £212 + interest?

I just thought I'd also point out that I've not much room to manuvre to do my card shuffle and my credit rating isn't brilliant at the moment.

Shifting my debt to 0% would probably save me more money than the £112.

Is there any rush to put the claim in now I have the list of charges or could I wait as late as 2011?

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers
  • Hi, I have just cancelled my MBNA card and paid it all off.
I didn't use it that much, it originally was a Bank of Scotland RSPCA Mastercard, but got changed a few years ago to the MBNA card.

If I want to claim back charges do I just claim to MBNA or do I have to go back to BOS as well?

I believe you can make a request under the data protection act for them to provide you with all information they hold about you including statements, they can charge an admin fee, but I believe it's about £10 - £15 for the whole lot, not per item.
I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?

I have a Virgin MBNA card. I paid a £50.00 capped fee for a 0% balance transfrer for 6 months from date of opening. Transferred balance of approx. £6000.00. (opened for stoozing)
Made minimum payments each month - but missed one by one day. Payment due date was a Sunday.
MBNA immediately removed the 0% interest - hence on next statement was charged interest up until that date + £12.00 late payment fee. In a call to customer services they reinstated the 0% interest.
Wrote to them about the re-instatement of late payment fee and interest - this is the first payment I have missed.
Numerous letters have been sent but customer service has not been good. Have just recived a call from a customer advisor telling me that they will not re-instate the fee and interest. He was reading from a script - no common sense applied here.

Any suggestions on how I can take this forward?

    What do MBNA normally do?

My reclaim letter was for circa £500. I've what sounds like a standard (for MBNA) letter saying they're looking into my claim and will reply before 18th Nov.

with me, they sent me an letter knocking my request down to the difference, so I waited for the cheque, then wrote( I doctored the template on here),thanking them and telling i acccepted it in part payment without predudice, but i still thought the charges were unfair, therefore i would be persuing it...

a week later, they wrote saying they would send the cheque for the rest, and it arrived this morning.

mbna are my favourite so far - they hav e certainally been the easiest!!!
