    I don't understand.

You put a payment through on the due date, knowing it would take possibly 5 days to clear, and are surprised when an AUTOMATED SYSTEM saw that your payment was overdue and charged you?:confused:

    What are you complaining about?

I had two accounts with MBNA – one was paid off and closed 18months ago. I’ve reclaimed fees on both accounts.
On Wednesday I received a letter offering me a goodwill payment, by cheque, of the difference between £12 and what they actually charged on my closed account. I am in the process of refusing this. :j
I awaited the arrival of the Post man on Thursday with bated breath, and he arrived with a letter from MBNA – saying my interest rates were going up: 2.0751 to 2.5292 for cash, 1.6674 to 2.2071 for everything else!
Is everyone getting one of these or am I being picked on?
And if I’m being picked on, is it legal?

And today I've received a letter with the same offer of a goodwill payment for my open account to be refunded to the account! Which I will also refuse.

MBNA usually fold at the very last second (28 days after they get the court notification).

    Hi all,

Briefly my situation is this. Sent my 1st letter to mbna asking for a refund of about £1000 for credit card charges. They then offered me a goodwill gesture of about £400. Sent the 2nd letter asking for the rest, its been about 28 days since they received this and i've had no reply (i sent this recorded so i know its been delivered). I'm preparing now to take the matter further.

I was about to do the MCOL but just wondered whether i should do that or FOS. What are the pro's and con's please. If you've been through either or both i'd just like your thought's on how you found the process, thanks in advance

MCOL can be done online and will be quick but will cost whereas the FO will take longer and won't cost you anything.
  • I have a mbna card but chargers and overlimit fees are just £12.00 can you still calim this back ?

just read you post and i'm suprised as i've just received a letter saying they are paying me the full amount £1019! The first letter i sent they offered a goodwill gesture of £429. I sent back the 2nd letter asking for the rest. Its taken them just over 4 weeks to reply to my letter but they've now offered me a further goodwill gesture of £590.12, which they say will be with me in the next ten working days. I was just about to start the MCOL. Good luck with your claim i'm sure you will be successful!
