Kevin, just reclaim them both and make sure you insist they remove any adverse data from your credit file if they have entered any as a result of this.0 -

I have a Virign credit card with a current balance of £0 although it has had balances of up to £1400 on it. I always made the payments on the card everytime but occasionally (due to both my own fault and my bank taking longer to clear the charges than anticipated) I was often charged £12 in late payment fees- possibly 5 or 6 times. I remember reading somewhere that they were allowed to charge you £12 for this kind of thing, but not more than this? Is it worth trying to claim it back as I kept the account in good order and as a student with no income the money would help me out a fair bit now.
Has anyone tried to claim back from Virgin for the £12 fees?0 -
Virgin cc is ran by mbna, i sent the first letter to them - got details of the charges, posed the 2nd letter to them asking for a refund of all charges and this morning i got a letter telling me i would have their decision by 20/03. Think thats outside of the time limit i gave them but i need to check that out.
I would say to you try and reclaim you wont know until you try!
Good luck!:rolleyes:0 -
Hi I wrote on here afew weeks ago and have found some very interesting info. I am on a dmp and have just recd my statement with over £500 credited, good news eh?? or so i THOUGHT!! I had arranged a 3rd party to claim for me and it seems now I will be unable to get this from the account as I no longer have the card. The statement says amount to spend is £.... but can i get to some of this £500 to pay the company who did this on my behalf?? also the copy of the letter from the company which was sent to MBNA states claims to be paid by cheque and sent to them, please help as I can't afford to pay the company! please help. Received a letter from mbna at the end of Feb telling me i would receive a full response by 20 march, thought i would phone them today to check if any further response sent before i sent 3rd letter. A lovely lady called me back to say they were offering me £165 (i claimed £550.78 inc interest) which would be written off my cc debt leaving a credit of ......... wait for it........ 23p!!!!!
She asked would i be accepting that - i said no - and she said to wait until i received their offer and them write in again and then they would include the 23p with the next offer.............................. A promise of more already!!
Should i wait until i receive their letter or just post on today?0 -
May as well wait. You don't want to appear to be acting unreasonably by jumping in all guns blazing.0

Hey, just looking for a bit of advice/opinion. I'll quickly explain my story.
I'm trying to reclaim credit card charges from mbna. Total of £1019.12 including 194.12 interest.
I had all my statements so i sent my 1st letter asking for them to repay the charges on 19/2/08. I received a reply dated 28/2/08 saying they were looking into the matter and would give full response by 23/3/08. I received the response from them dated 13/3/08 basically offering a goodwill payment of £429 and that a cheque will be sent within 10 working days. I wrote back yesterday (19/3/08) using martin's letter saying that i accept the £429 as part payment, but i want the rest bla bla and you have 14 days to respond. Today (20/3/08) i received the cheque for £429.
My concern is this.. what should i do with the cheque ? Cash it or just hang on to it. Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks guys.

It depends. If the letter that accompanies the cheques says full and final settlement then if you cash it you have basically agreed to that and so would nto be entitled to any more surely?Got Halifax Classic to reduce my interest rate by 5% woohoo - 10/06/08 Thanks MSE!
Another 3% shaved off 10/12/08
ANOTHER 4 % June 09:beer:0 -

As you have written to say you will accept, without prejudice, but will be continuing your claim for the rest then you can bank the cheque, it is after all a "goodwill gesture"0
