I got a letter telling me they would supply the information for free, and it included a piece of paper with three transaction descriptions on?

What should I do now please. ?

Can you just confirm what i think you're saying - you believe this does not show all of the charges you have incurred?

If you sent the template from here, it's clear what information you are requesting. You can write back to them and let them know, they have not supplied the requested information. Tell them they must provide this or you will report them to the Information Commissioner.

    Hi there,

I have been charged 12 pounds by Virgin/MBNA for cancelling a direct debit (with my bank rather than them) when I had nothing left to pay on my card. When the statement was issued there was still an outstanding balance but I transferred it in plenty of time, I cancelled the direct debit with my bank aswell with a view to close the account once I got the next statement saying it was zero. Am I in the wrong?
    Thanks
    B

You have been charged £12 for a failed DD. Virgin/MBNA always attempt to collect the minimum payment, as on the statement, by DD wether or not any other payments have been made. You should not have cancelled your DD until you had received a statement with zero balance.
Your best course of action is to phone them, explain the situation and ask if they will refund the charge.

I will give it a go, will have to brush up my telephone manner I think!
Bit of a bummer really as by the time the dd came around the balance was zero which is why I cancelled. I should have known.
    Thanks

Sorry if this has been asked before. I have searched through this thread, but haven't found the answer.
I have a Sony card that used to run by BOS, I have been trying claim back all the charges from MBNA. They have offered me the difference between the £25 and £12 but only up till MBNA took over the card from BOS.
Are they just fobbing me off and I should carry on trying to claim from them? Or should I now try and claim the charges pre MBNA from BOS?
    Thanks for your help

    Hiya,

I received a partial payment of £24 from MBNA, and a letter advising that if MBNA did not hear from me within eight weeks, they would assume that the matter is closed.

Well, I did send the court action letter, but noted that I sent the letter about 1 week after their eight week cut off. It's been just over 2 weeks now since I sent the court action letter, and I haven't heard anything. The remaining amount I'm claiming for is only £60, but hey, it's £60 I could be better off with.

My question is, because I did not respond to their letter within eight weeks, does that mean I have to accept the partial payment of £24 only?

    Many Thanks

    No, of course not

They can assume all they like, that doesn't stop you persuing the full amount if you want to.

Do you think it's worth me trying to contact them by phone in order to push things forward in retrieving the £60, or get the ball rolling with the financial ombudsman?

Hello |I've been away for a while

Submitted a claim to Halifax card re charges pre-dating the OFT decision. Was charged £714.39 inc interest. They offered £263 which i refused and stated that if £450 was forthcoming I would be happy as thsi would get me within my credit limit. Got a letter saying a manager would call me but none did so I persued it by calling them. Got a phone call today full of apologies about the delay in contacting me and they are to refund in full!!!

The charges all stemmed from when I was setting up my bsuiness and things were tight for a while. Although I was making the payments to the card account I felt that it was a struggle each month. So I rang and told them but they said they couldn't ( wouldn't?) do anything as I was not in arrears. What do they tell us- if you're having problems let us knwo!!! I had one charge whcih took me over the limit and it snowballed from there.

    Anyway all sorted now ....

    MBNA

These people have stated that they are not able to answer letters as "they expect customers to call them ". I'm trying to claim for a friend but are they allowed to disregard letters? What if you're deaf for example???
Has anyone had major sucess claiming from these reptiles?
